Katie Couric Reveals She’s Been Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

Former Today news anchor Katie Couric has revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The legendary journalist revealed that she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer after being diagnosed in June.

The sixty-five-year-old is best known for her TV work, having worked for ABC, CNN and NBC news across her career.

She shared her story in an essay on her own website, Katie Couric Media.

The post begins: “June 21, 2022, was the first day of summer, my 8th wedding anniversary, and the day I found out I had breast cancer.”

Couric described the “heart-stopping, suspended animation feeling” that she felt when she got the news.

In the essay, she says memories from her late husband Jay Monahan’s cancer diagnosis came “flooding back”, as well as that of her sister and mother-in-law.

Since the death of her first husband, the star has become a spokesperson for cancer advocacy.

Couric even underwent an on-air colonoscopy in 2000 to raise awareness for the cause.

She revealed that she had already undergone surgery and began radiation treatment at the start of September.

Couric said she was sharing her diagnosis because “it seemed odd to not use this as another teachable moment that could save someone’s life.”
