As the Celebrating America show came to a close last night, Katy Perry had one final surprise up her sleeve, and of course, it well and truly stole the show.
Safe to say, she wowed audiences. Scroll on to see for yourself...
Now, there's no denying that Katy Perry is an amazing singer.
And she sure knows how to put on a show.
As she showed us last night while closing the inauguration concert, Celebrating America.
When she stole the show with her incredible performance.
Of course, yesterday was the all-important inauguration day.
Since it was announced that Joe Biden would be the forty-sixth President of the United States and Kamala Harris Vice President, many people were counting down the days until the power exchange.
And already, President Biden has began laying out plans for his presidency.
From his plans to re-vamp "controversial" laws left by his predecessor to uniting a divided country.
But one of the most exciting things about yesterday was the inauguration day TV special.
Celebrating America, which was hosted by the one and only Tom Hanks, has been hailed as an event that will go down in history.
And not only because it was brimming with some of our favorite celebrities...
Though, that was also pretty exciting...
But because the event has hopefully brought Americans together with its celebrations of the best aspects of the country.
So, let's recap the show.
Of course, we have to start with all the celebrity performances.
From actors and actresses to musicians and even TikTok stars, the star-studded event was a night to remember.
We had a series of iconic female performers including Demi Lovato...
And we couldn't get enough!
of course, we were not short of iconic male performers either.
John Legend took to the stage along with Joe Jonas, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, and Justin Timberlake.
And of course, we can't forget...
On-screen POTUS Tony Goldwyn and the legend that is Kerry Washington also hosted at the event. The Scandal stars each had their own segment; Goldwyn watched over the "Parade Across America" as the University of Delaware and Howard University drumlines escorted Biden and Harris from 15th Street to the White House.
Kerry Washington, on the other hand, was joined by Housewife, Eva Longoria, to introduce segments throughout the night...
Including one in which they honored young people that go above and beyond for their communities.
Other acts included Black Pumas, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Lin Manuel Miranda.
And we can't forget about Amanda Gorman, can we? The poet read a personal piece dedicated to the country at the inauguration itself.
When asked about the performance, she told The Times this:
"America is messy. It's still in its early development of all that we can become. And I have to recognize that in the poem. I can't ignore that or erase it. And so I crafted an inaugural poem that recognizes these scars and these wounds. Hopefully, it will move us toward healing them."
Of course, many were very excited about this historic day...

But despite all the incredible happenings yesterday...
There was one moment that truly stole the show and ended Biden's big day with a bang.
Katy Perry's grand finale performance for Celebrating America.
That lit up the sky over Washington.
As the star took to the stage to sing her hit song, "Firework," the sky over the Washington Monument lit up with a display of red, white, and blue fireworks.
As she performed, the new president and first lady watched on from a balcony outside their new home.
