If there's one thing that the internet can agree on, it's that Keanu Reeves is an all-around great guy. From his roles in some of our favorite action thrillers, to his more dramatic roles in films like Dracula, he's a multi-talented actor, sure - but that's not why the internet loves him so much. He's also known for being one of the nicest (and least problematic) celebrities on the planet.
And he has recently been voted the 10th most admired men on the planet amongst some other worthy contenders...
Who doesn't love Keanu Reeves?Time and time again, he's proven himself to be the best in Hollywood.
He's certainly one of the nicest men in Hollywood. And totally without a scandal. Impressive stuff!
Whether you love him for his personality...Or his acting skills are what do it for you...
He's an all-around winner. So it's no wonder why he was voted the 10th most admired man on the planet.
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1964, Keanu Reeves is much-loved actor.

Aside from those achievements though, Reeves hasn't had such an easy life.
via: ShutterstockHe's faced a life that one wouldn't wish on their worst enemy.
He encountered grief at a very young age.
via: Getty ImagesKeanu's father walked out on the family when he was just 3-years-old, and he was ultimately arrested for possession of drugs in 1994, leading to Keanu not wanting to ever contact his father again.
Keanu looks back on that time in pain.
via: Getty Images"The story with me and my dad’s pretty heavy. It’s full of pain and woe and f****** loss and all that s***," he told Rolling Stone in 2000.
Despite leaving high school without a diploma...
via: Getty ImagesKeanu went on to make his big break in acting during the 1980s, and it's safe to say he managed to do pretty well for himself whilst dealing with difficulties in his family life.
But in 1991...
via: Getty ImagesHis younger sister Kim was diagnosed with leukemia aged just twenty-five. Keanu devoted himself to her care, suspending filming 2 Matrix sequels to be by her side.
Thankfully, she was in remission by 1999...
via: Getty ImagesAnd this was around the time Keanu met actress Jennifer Syme at a party for his rock band Dog Star.
The pair fell in love and were expecting a baby together.
via: Getty ImagesThey had already named their unborn daughter, Ava, when tragedy struck. The baby was stillborn on Christmas eve, which was a month before the due date.
The pair were crushed.
via: ShutterstockHeartbroken, Jennifer is said to have suffered post-natal depression before grief tore her and Keanu apart. They split soon after but were rumored to have been trying to work things out just before her sudden death in 2001, aged just twenty-eight.
Keanu was completely broken by grief.
via: ShutterstockJennifer was killed instantly in a car accident en route to a party at Marilyn Manson's house. A grief-stricken Keanu carried her coffin as she was laid to rest beside their daughter.
But Reeves didn't let this tragedy make him bitter.
via: Getty ImagesInstead, he's become an incredible philanthropist. He's well known for supporting a wide range of charitable causes, from PETA to Stand Up To Cancer.
And that isn't all.It was recently revealed that Reeves gave all his profits from the sequel from The Matrix to the crew. And he didn't even want credit for it, saying, "I’d rather people didn’t know that. It was a private transaction. It was something I could afford to do, a worthwhile thing to do."
Keanu has an open outlook on grief...
via: Getty ImagesIn 2006, he opened up in an interview about the agonizing depths of his pain: "Grief changes shape, but it never ends. People have a misconception that you can deal with it and say 'it's gone, and I'm better.' They're wrong, when the people you love are gone, you're alone."
When his domestic dreams shattered, he embraced a rootless existence.
via: ShutterstockKeanu is known to have remained single for years and he even lived out of his suitcase in hotel rooms for a long period of time.
Keanu settled with this temporary lifestyle.
via: Getty ImagesFor 4 years he called Los Angeles' Châteaux Marmont home. "Sounds quite bohemian and gypsy-like, doesn't it?" he joked of his lifestyle in 2010, "I'm down to one bag now, and smaller rooms in hotels."
He has now settled in his Hollywood Hills...
via: Getty ImagesPeople deal with grief in very different ways, and by living out of his suitcase, Keanu dealt with his grief quietly and privately.
Reeves has been fairly quiet on the acting scene in recent years. But that's all set to change in the coming months as Reeves gains notoriety in his role as John Wick.
He's kept his private life very private.
via: Getty ImagesIncluding what's going on with him romantically. Or so we thought. Because late last year, Keanu walked the red carpet at the ACMA Art + Film Gala, and he wasn't alone.
For the first time ever ...
via: Getty ImagesReeves made a public appearance with his long-term girlfriend, Alexandra Grant (who looked totally gorgeous, by the way).
Grant is a full-time visual artist.
And, even cuter?
via: AmazonReeves and Grant have actually collaborated on some creative projects together. This includes the 2011 "grown-ups picture book" Ode to Happiness, written by Reeves and with illustrations by Grant.
The couple actually have a range of ventures together.
via: X Artists' BooksThey run a small press called X Artists' Books, which they describe as "a small publisher of thoughtful, high-quality, artist-centered books that fit within and between genres."
But also, just look at them.
via: Getty ImagesThis is one of the cutest couples we've ever seen - and it seems the internet agrees. Images of the two being generally adorable are cheering everybody up.
Do you know what else is cheering us all up?
via: GettyKnowing that this great man has recently been voted as the 10th most admired man on the planet in a study conducted by YouGov which featured 45,000 people in 42 countries and territories. Now that's one hell of an achievement.
And it wasn't an easy slot to gain given the other contenders on the list.
via: GettyLet's have a little look at the other nine.
9. Elon Musk.
via: GettyThe billionaire space enthusiast managed to beat Reeves and took the number 9 spot on the list.
His space agency Space X recently collaborated with NASA on a historic mission.
via: GettyThey hope to offer normal folk the chance to be able to visit the skies beyond the Earth's atmosphere if this mission is successful. That's pretty admirable, I guess.
8. Dalai Lama
via: GettyThe current Dalai Lama is the 14th of his kind and is an important religious figure in Tibetan Buddhism.
The eighty-five-year-old is seen as an inspiration to many.
via: GettyHe is the only religious leader to make it into the top 10, beating the likes of Pope Francis.
7. Jack Ma.
via: GettyThe Chinese businessman is the co-founder of Alibaba Group. He is a crucial component of an "open and market-driven economy." Rich and admirable? Wow.
6. Christiano Ronaldo.
via: GettyOf course, the A-List footballer has been the inspiration for many young children far and wide. As well as his illustrious career in football, he's also an active member of numerous charities including Save the Children, Unicef and World Vision.
So he's stolen the number 6 spot.
via: GettyAnd the competition only gets more fierce from here.
5. Jackie Chan.
via: GettyThe iconic actor has claimed the 5th spot on this coveted list. As well as his work in film, Chan has also been behind the camera and worked on numerous other projects that have earned him multiple awards.
4. Narendra Modi.
via: GettyModi is the 14th and current Prime Minister of India. The politician has been serving in the spot since 2014 and though he has been branded as "controversial", he is clearly also admired by a lot of people.
3. Xi Jinping.
via: GettyThe prominent leader of the Communist Party in China and has also been the leader of the country since 2013. He is yet another leader that has made it into the top 10.
2. Bill Gates.
via: GettyA worthy contender, Gates is a sixty-four-year-old software developer, and philanthropist.
He is known for his charity work via the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
via: GettyThe organization aims to work with some of the poorest people in the world and help other developing countries progress in the modern era.
1. Barack Obama.
via: GettyIf you had to guess who would top this list, it would probably be this man.
Barack Obama has come in number 1, after ranking number 2 last year.
via: GettyAnd if it couldn't get any better for the Obamas, Michelle also topped the list for the most admired women on the planet. Couple goals or what? Do you think this list is accurate? Keep scrolling to see what the Obamas have been up to lately...
