Kelly Clarkson’s Shower Habit Has Divided The Internet

Her unconventional hygiene practices have sparked an online debate, reminiscent of the infamous “Do you wash your legs in the shower?” controversy.

But first… can we talk about her major weight loss?

Over the years, fad diets have cycled their way through the mainstream, with most of them making it big due to celebrity endorsements.

One of the latest ways to lose weight is a drug called Ozempic, which is used to treat diabetes.

While the drug isn’t approved for weight loss, rumors started to spread that many celebrities who dropped weight quickly in recent years did so because of Ozempic.

Now, whenever a star drops a couple lbs, fans automatically assume it’s because of the semaglutide drug.

That’s exactly what supporters accused Kelly Clarkson of after seeing her recent, dramatic weight loss.

But, this week, the 41-year-old revealed in her PEOPLE magazine cover story that she actually achieved it by making two big lifestyle changes.

The first big change, the singer revealed, is that she decided to walk everywhere in her new home of New York City.

Before she moved to the Big Apple, she lived in Los Angeles, where she drove her car everywhere.

Clarkson told the publication she loves to stroll around her neighborhood, and it just so happens that putting in those steps have been great for losing weight.

“Walking in the city is quite the workout,” she told PEOPLE. “And I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”

The Voice coach went on to say that her second big change came after listening to her doctor, cutting down on carbs and putting herself on a protein heavy diet.

“I eat a healthy mix,” Kelly explained. “I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn’t.”

She continued, “And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway.”

While some have accused her of taking Ozempic, she has yet to respond to those rumors.

Elsewhere in her new cover story, the songstress admitted that she has been suffering from crippling depression. Her mental health was so bad, she started seeing a therapist.

Understandably, Clarkson found herself in a dark place after divorcing her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, and that has lingered for years.

“The level of depression and things that come with divorce or grieving is extraordinarily hard,” she told the outlet.

“You feel alone, and it’s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming,” she said of writing and recording music after her divorce.

This new revelation also comes as Clarkson has accused her ex of telling her she was not sexy to be on The Voice.

Kelly made these claims to a California labor commissioner last year, who eventually ruled that Brandon owed Kelly $2.6 million for unlawfully making deals that should have been handled by her talent agents.

In docs obtained by Page Six, Clarkson claimed that after she told her then-husband about her desire to be a coach on The Voice, he insisted that they were “looking for a more sex symbol type” such as Rihanna.

When asked by her lawyer Ed McPherson how she was able to recall the specific conversation, Kelly’s answer was obvious.

“Well, a wife doesn’t forget a time she gets told she’s not a sex symbol, so that stays,” she explained.

She went on to allege that Blackstock told her NBC “had to have someone that was Black. … They had to have a diverse thing.”

He also allegedly said that she and Blake Shelton, who was already on the show at the time, “were too similar.”

Regardless of Brandon’s put-downs, Kelly joined The Voice as a coach in 2018.

She left the show amid her recent move to New York, but had a successful tenure for 5 years on the singing competition series.

While the chat took on various topics, it was her candid confession about her hygiene habits that sent the internet into a frenzy.

As they navigated the topic of personal hygiene, Kelly Clarkson casually mentioned her home routine and how she’s developed a few hacks to save time when she’s pressed for it.

“Here’s the thing,” she started, “I don’t regularly brush my teeth in the shower. I just do if I’m in a hurry.”

She went on to add, “Now, I do happen to be in a hurry often.” It was a light-hearted remark, yet it was enough to trigger an avalanche of reactions online.

To Pee or Not to Pee

The revelations didn’t stop there. The conversation took an unexpected turn when Kelly Clarkson asked Thompson a rather ‘hard question’ – does he pee in the shower?

While Thompson admitted to having done it but tries not to, Clarkson unabashedly declared, “I pee almost every time in the shower! You can’t help it. It goes back to that childhood sleepover. You know, they put your hand in the hot water.

Sometimes, you pee. The hot water hits your body and — not every time, but, like, if I’ve gotta go…yeah.”

The hygiene debate didn’t stop at brushing teeth or peeing in the shower. It brought back memories of the notorious leg-washing controversy.

Thompson mentioned it in the conversation, and Kelly Clarkson had an interesting take on it too.

“But wait, when you’re washing up here, it does wash down,” argued Clarkson, referring to the act of washing one’s legs in the shower.

However, Thompson wasn’t convinced and stood his ground.
