The Grey's Anatomy family is expanding behind the scenes as Kelly McCreary is expecting her first child with her director husband, Pete Chatmon.

The thirty-nine-year-old actress, who has played the role of Dr. Maggie Pierce ever since Season 10 of the hit show, announced the happy news via her Instagram account. Posting a picture of herself holding a Clearblue pregnancy test, she wrote this: "When being late comes right on time... Surprise! WE'RE HAVING A BABY! Pete and I are thrilled to be growing our family, and to share the news with all of you!"

She continued: "Lemme tell you, there's nothing like finding out by seeing the word spelled out, clear as day, leaving no mystery whatsoever: PREGNANT! Thank you, @Clearblue, for being with us on the journey!

"As part of this exciting moment, I wanted to help raise awareness for Clearblue partner @marchofdimes and their amazing efforts to raise awareness for Black maternal and infant health. This year, they launched an implicit bias training for more than 15,000 health care providers with the goal of uncovering institutionalized racism in the health care system and training health care workers not to perpetuate the cycles of discrimination to achieve equity for all moms and babies. Please check out for more!"

In a second photo on the same post, she shared a snapshot of her and her husband, pointing to a very fitting necklace with the words "Hot Mama" on it.

He also dedicated a post to the happy news, writing: "This Is My Favorite Monday Post Of All Time. So Excited To Grow Our Family And Add Dad To My Resume."

Kelly McCreary and Pete Chatmon first met on the set of Grey's Anatomy in 2017 before they officially said "I do" to each other in May 2019.

"Two years down, [infinity sign emoji] to go. Happy Anniversary, my baby, my love, my favorite person, the best decision I've ever made in my whole entire life, @petechatmon," McCreary wrote during an anniversary post dedicated to their relationship.

And now they're both set to be future parents! Congratulations to them! We can't wait to see the little one when they're born!
