After losing his job during the pandemic TikToker Khaby Lame is now worth millions and recognised around the world.

Lame, whose full name is Khabane Lame, turned to TikTok after he was made redundant from his job as a factory worker, last year at the start of the pandemic.

Thrown into unemployment and with time on his hands, Lame began making his hilarious videos which see him mock modern life hack trends and they soon gained popularity.

Lames uses TikTok’s duet and stitch features to responded to various life hack tips by showing that there is often a much easier and simpler solution.

One of Lames most watched videos sees him mock a fellow TikToker for his tip to cut himself free from a car door by cutting through his t-shirt.

Lame films himself in the same predicament, but instead of cutting his top to release himself from the situation, he simply opens the car door to free himself, before following with his signature shrug.

The 21-year old spoke with the New York Times where he explained: “It’s my face and my expressions which make people laugh.”

As he describes them as a “global language.”

The NYTs explained that Lame, who is originally from Senegal, had been a young factory worker in the northern Italian industrial town of Chivasso, until he lost his job in March 2020 as the pandemic began.

He returned to his family’s “modest apartment,” where he began spending his days on TikTok and his following began to grow and grow.

Currently, Lame has more 100 million followers on the platform and 1.5 billion likes, providing him with a new way to make money.

As per LadBible, earlier this year, Celebs Life Reel reported that Lame is now worth millions of dollars.

They claimed Lame is worth between $1-$2 million, however this estimate is likely to be higher now given his continued success and growth on the platform.

Just last month, Lame became the second most followed TikTok star in the world after he surpassed Addison Rae.
