Kyle Richards may be in the best shape of her life, but she insists her transformation isn’t a “revenge body.”
The 54-year-old is opening up about how she’s been prioritizing her health in recent years.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has undergone a physical transformation after dedicating herself to a better diet and workout regimen.
“I think back to when I was in my 20s and 30s, and I look better than I did then, and that’s after having four kids,” she told Us Weekly about her physique.
“It’s definitely never too late,” she shared. “When I was younger, I used to work out to lose weight.”
“Now it’s for me — first and foremost, my mental health. The fact that it makes me look good is just a bonus,” Richards revealed.
Kyle went on to say yhat she started focusing on her health journey in 2022, after having a breast reduction.
Following the surgery, she wasn’t able to work out for eight weeks while recovering, and ultimately, she let herself go.
“At the time, I was on vacation in Europe, eating pasta and drinking wine and cocktails. By the end of the trip, I didn’t recognize myself.”
“I had also just lost my best friend to suicide, and I wasn’t taking care of myself,” Kyle continued. “And [it was] making me feel more depressed.”
“So after we left, I said, ‘That’s it. I’m not going to have bad carbs — no sugar, no pasta, no bread, no alcohol,” she insisted. “And I’m going to work out every single day.’”
The reality star also admitted that going alcohol-free “made such a difference in my skin and how I felt.”
Although Richards has been working out since she was 15, she said that she has learned to switch up her fitness routine based on “what my body needs.”
Instead of her typical hiking and spin classes, the reality TV star has now incorporated weight lifting, hot yoga and running.
She also noted that exercise helps clear her head.
Kyle’s recent transformation also comes as she’s been going through a separation from husband Mauricio Umansky.
Still, she doesn’t classify her new look as a “revenge body.”
“It’s certainly not meant to be a revenge body. It’s meant to be an I-feel-good body,” she said.
Richards went on to note that she’s now done losing weight after settling at 117 lbs.
“I love the way I feel and look,” she added.
Back in October, Umansky told PEOPLE that he and Richards were “separated.”
That came after after they issued a joint statement earlier this year that shot down any rumors regarding a divorce.
“We’ve been married for 27 years, we’re having a bit of a rough patch,” Mauricio told the mag, adding that he and Kyle are not giving up on each other.
“Sometimes life throws you different things,” he said, adding, “You’ve gotta work through it.”
In November, Richards had to make it clear–once again–that she isn’t going through a divorce.
After mistakenly saying the word “divorce” while talking about her husband during a red carpet interview at BravoCon, Richards later clarified her comments.
When she talked to Andy Cohen on a special episode of Watch What Happens Live, she mentioned her slip-up.
“I misspoke on the carpet today,” the Real Housewives star began at the time.
“Two times I had to correct someone when they said ‘divorce.’ I said ‘separated.’ And then I went and said it, and then it went everywhere. So, that was my bad,” she explained.
