As the Black Lives Matter protests continue here in the U.S, the families of the victims shot by Kyle Rittenhouse are looking for compensation.
Here's what we know so far...
The Black Lives Matter movement has never before been so prominent.
via: GettyEver since George Floyd, an unarmed and defenseless black man, died while being held in a police restraint in May 2020, our country has experienced a wave of anger like never before.
This kind of police brutality has been happening for centuries now...
via: GettyBut George Floyd's death has sparked an outrage like never before.
Thousands upon thousands of people began taking to the streets in protest...
via: GettyAnd they were all marching for one thing: for the blatant racism and injustice in this country to be brought to an end.
Remarkably, however, they seemed to be working.
Thanks to these riots, BLM began dominating global headlines and it completely took over social media.

Protests were happening across the pond too...
via: GettyHundreds of thousands of people took to the streets in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The global solidarity has been incredible to see.
We have been witnessing history in the making...
via: GettyAnd people are continuing to demand justice.
This is only the beginning...And it’s so important that we continue to speak out and use our voices.
However, not all protests were peaceful...And back in August, a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin turned deadly.
A now eighteen-year-old white man opened fire.
Kyle Rittenhouse, armed illegally with an AR-15 assault rifle, opened fire on 3 innocent protestors.

Rittenhouse is known to be an avid "Blue Lives Matter" supporter...And he is a prominent figure amongst far-right protestors meaning, of course, he isn't exactly a supporter of BLM.
2 were tragically killed by Rittenhouse...
While a third was horrifically injured by his gunshot injuries, losing a significant portion of his bicep.

However, it was reported that Kyle’s legal fight is being funded by his merchandise. An online website is selling T-shirts, hoodies, stickers, mugs, iPhone covers, and laptop sleeves carrying the phrase 'Free Kyle.' And the money that’s being made is going to pay his legal fees.
But now, it looks like the families of the victims plan to sue Kenosha officials.
via: GettyThe family of one of the men killed by Kyle Rittenhouse during the Kenosha protests last summer has filed negligence claims.
The parents of twenty-six-year-old Anthony Huber filed for $10 million in damages.
via: GettyGaige Grosskreutz, who was seriously injured by the now eighteen-year-old, also filed a claim for the same amount, with both alleging what happened could have been prevented if proper measures were put in place to protect the men, according to UniLad.
Kimberly Motley, who represents Grosskreutz, said...
"We’re basically looking to sue different actors within the city of Kenosha as well as the city of Kenosha itself who we believe were negligent in their allowing Mr. Rittenhouse to indiscriminately run around during the week and protest with a loaded weapon."
And by no uncertain terms Kyle Rittenhouse is a murderer!— Stephanie J. Block (@Stephanie J. Block)1609196111.0
Huber’s family agrees it was negligence that lead to the death of their son...Grosskreutz claims that he has suffered "significant permanent physical damage" and will struggle to work due to the inaction of officials.
According to Motley, "The primary objective is that we believe that Mr. Rittenhouse should be convicted of all the charges that he’s facing."
Kenosha County Board of Supervisors is currently discussing the claims. Keep scrolling for more updates...
