Dow is best known for his role in the television sitcom Leave It to Beaver.

He played Wally Cleaver, the “all-American” boy, and fans immediately loved his schoolboy charm.

Amazingly, Dow managed to win the role with almost no acting experience after he tagged along with his friends to audition.

The show ran in primetime from 1957 to 1963, and fans watched as his character grew with him.

After the series came to an end, Dow ventured into other roles, appearing in a variety of TV shows…

Such as; My Three SonsDr. KildareThe Greatest Show on Earth, and Never Too Young, he also appeared in Mr. Novak 3 times, all as different people.

He took a 3-year break from acting in 1965 when he served in the U.S. National Guard.

But returned soon after, taking on many more acting roles in the ’70s while also working in the construction industry alongside studying journalism and filmmaking.

After a successful decade on screen, Dow returned as the character that began his journey in 1983, Wally Cleaver.
