The basketball player has said he will open a multimillion-dollar medical facility in his hometown of Ohio.
The LeBron James Family Foundation, set up in 2004 by the professional basketball player, will be opening a multimillion-dollar medical facility in Akron, Ohio.
The “I Promise health Quarters” will be made available to students from the “I Promise School” he set up in 2018 and the local community.
“It takes a village to help raise a kid and make a true difference! Love my kids and their families!” LeBron wrote in a tweet.
According to CBS News, the health center will provide medical, dental, optometry, and mental health support.
There will also be an onsite pharmacy and a lab site.
According to the news outlet, the health facility will be partnering with AxessPointe, Coleman Health Services, and Peg’s Foundation.
The foundation aims to redefine communities and build strong families as well as “creating generational change for the kids and families of James’ hometown” as per the website.
The I Promise program helps over 1,500 students and their families with the support and family programming they need in order to succeed in school. And now, LeBron is going a further mile to show his support for the children of his community.
The executive director of the foundation spoke out in a statement to Cleavland.com: “As we continue to listen and respond to what our families need, our work continues to expand in ways we never dreamed of.
“Access to affordable health care has always been a critical need for our families – and further heightened by the pandemic – so we began rallying our community to bring the experts together under one trusted roof. Being able to provide this important resource for the entire community is only possible because we have incredible partners that share our We Are Family philosophy,” said Michele Campbell.
The health facility is due to open next year.
