Lesley Stahl Gets Security Following Death Threats After Donald Trump Interview | 22 Words

Since Lesley Stahl's 60 Minutes interview with the president, she has had to deal with some pretty terrifying repercussions...

Donald Trump's latest interview in the run-up to the presidential election hasn't exactly gone to plan.

The president sat down for 60 Minutes last Tuesday, with correspondent Lesley Stahl, but as we all know, Trump cut the whole thing short.

And, of course...

Nobody was shocked to see that Trump had taken to Twitter in a series of rants about Stahl.

And it turns out Stahl hasn't just landed herself in a pretty dangerous situation due to the interview...

But the safety of her family is also at risk...

We are now only mere weeks away from the highly anticipated presidential election...

So, of course, Trump is trying to salvage the little reputation he has left.

Because, as you will all be aware...

It seems that he has some serious competition from his Democratic rival, Joe Biden - although Trump probably wouldn't admit that himself.

Of course, the election couldn't have fallen on a worse year...

But it has been powering on ahead... despite many major setbacks.

Trump's presidential campaign seems to be hitting rocks...

And things took an ultimate turn for the worst when at the start of October, the president and the first lady, Melania, tested positive for COVID-19. Trump insisted that they immediately went into self-isolation together and that they felt fine, but after just a few days, he was hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Centre.

Despite the huge worry surrounding Trump's health...

He was discharged just a few days later and insisted to the nation that all we need to do is to "learn to live with COVID," which was very concerning to hear.

In the days following his diagnosis, Trump continued to insist on how he was "feeling better than ever."

But when Joe Biden proposed making the next presidential debate a virtual one in the interest of health and safety, Trump put his foot down.

FYI, this wasn't just Biden's idea.

The Commission on Presidential Debates announced that the October 15th town hall-style debate in Miami would take place virtually as health experts raised concerns about whether it would be safe to hold the event in person given Trump is still recovering from COVID-19.

The virtual debate that was scheduled to go ahead on the 15th of October was officially canceled due to Trump's refusal.

For some reason, the proposition of a virtual debate infuriated the president and he boldly said he "wouldn't waste his time" on it.

So instead, Joe Biden participated in a Philadelphia town hall forum moderated by ABC's George Stephanopoulos...

And in typical Trump fashion, the president announced at the last minute that he would hold his own town hall forum in Miami at exactly the same time, hosted by NBC.

The whole campaign process has been nothing short of shambolic.

So it's not surprising to see Trump attempting to salvage that last bit of respect from potential voters.

And, with the election looming...

Trump sat down with Lesley Stahl for CBS News' 60 Minutes, but it was far from plain sailing.

60 Minutes said the White House agreed only to record the interview for its archives...

And said it has a history of interviewing presidential candidates while asking important questions in the run-up to elections.

However, Trump has been accused of cutting the interview - which was taped at the White House - short.

Later Tuesday, Trump branded the interview as "biased" and threatened to release it before it aired.

The president's rant was documented on Twitter...

"I am pleased to inform you that, for the sake of accuracy in reporting, I am considering posting my interview with Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes, PRIOR TO AIRTIME! This will be done so that everybody can get a glimpse of what a FAKE and BIASED interview is all about..." he tweeted.

He continued...

"Everyone should compare this terrible Electoral Intrusion with the recent interviews of Sleepy Joe Biden!"

In another tweet, Trump slammed Stahl, claiming she was not wearing a mask at the White House.

"Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes not wearing a mask in the White House after her interview with me. Much more to come," the president tweeted, along with a video clip of Stahl not wearing a mask.

However, CBS News says Stahl wore a mask as she entered the White House and greeted the president.

She then removed her mask when socially distanced just before the interview began. CBS says the clip Trump tweeted occurred after the interview and shows Stahl speaking with her producers, all of whom had tested negative for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Trump's campaign adviser Jason Miller has since disputed claims that the interview had ended abruptly.

"Very fake news! No drama, interview was not ended abruptly, and we have the receipts from the interview - all of them! Maybe we need to put the whole thing out so people can see for themselves?" Miller tweeted.

Since the interview, CBS has had to offer protection to Stahl, due to one of her family members receiving a death threat.

Stahl and her family are even being escorted whenever they leave the house to ensure their safety.

The death threat call was reported at 9 am on Thursday.

The caller directed the threat to Lesley and her family.

The call happened a few days after word got out about Trump leaving the interview early.

After the interview, Stahl accused Trump of insulting her show, which could have been a motive for an extreme fan to act out.

The police are currently investigating the death threat.
