Maisie Williams has shocked fans after her recent Instagram post showed off her new shaved look.
The star made waves when she debuted the new bold look on social media this week.
We didn’t even recognize her at first!
Maisie Williams is well known for her role in the smash-hit TV series, Game of Thrones…
Which surprisingly finished over 2 years ago, back in 2019.
Game of Thrones was nothing short of a cultural phenomenon.
What was initially seen as a somewhat niche fantasy television show quickly took over the world, with everyone having an opinion on the series.
The show took place in the fictional country of Westeros.
Although there were parallels between the Game of Thrones world that was reminiscent of medieval history, there were also fantasy elements like, say, dragons.
The show was based on the battles between contenders for the Iron Throne.
There were many who claimed they had a blood right to rule over the seven kingdoms but when the show came to an end, we found out the true ruler was the North.
One of the reasons for the show’s success was its excellent characters.
And one particular fan favorite was Arya Stark. The younger of the Stark daughters, Arya had proud Northern heritage and a serious propensity for (justified) violence.
Arya was played (excellently) by Maisie Williams, as we know.
The actress, from Bristol in England, was cast in the role at just twelve years old. She’s now twenty-five.
Arya was truly an excellent character.
She was a young woman who managed to survive against the odds in one of the most dangerous climates imaginable.
Williams was also thrust into the spotlight after the series gained popularity.
She has a seriously fun web presence, and her close friendship with fellow actress Sophie Turner is, quite simply, goals.
But where did Arya’s story start out?
She was a young Lady, living in the house of Winterfell.
Although it was clear Arya always longed for something more.
She was particularly keen on learning how to fight with a sword, in spite of that being far from expected from a noblewoman in training.
Over the course of the series, Arya did not have an easy time.
She spent a good proportion of her Game of Thrones journey living a wandering, itinerant life, with danger lurking at every turn.
But somehow, she managed to survive.
And going into the 8th season, it seemed like Arya was potentially stronger than ever before.
But now that the series has finished, killing the Night King and seeking revenge is all in Williams’ past…
What’s on her mind most is what she’s going to do now the series that started her career is over.
It seems as though Williams has had some doubts about her acting career over the last few years…
Specifically, the roles that she’ll be allowed to play now that GOT is over.
Speaking to the Irish Times, she said:
“It’s only now I’m starting to realize the characters that are available to me because of the way I look and the characters that aren’t available to me.”
“I don’t look like someone who is cast in roles that are, well, sexualized,” she said.
Further adding that she was “completely in awe” of Hollywood’s “jaw-droppingly beautiful” actresses.
And now, Williams has shaken things up, making a statement on Instagram.
The actress shared a photo of herself donning a buzz cut, captioning the pic: “Washing head w facewash>”
And it’s safe to say she rocks the look!
Many took to the comment section of her post to share their thoughts on her new haircut.
Iris Law, who has a similar look, wrote: “MAISIEEEE,” to which the actress responded: “u the blueprint.”
Another fan commented: “You have a lovely shaped bonce!”
“Oh she cute,” a third wrote, while others gushed: “Queeeeeeen! I wasn’t ready” and “Wow, the buzz cut looks amazing on you.”
