Man Killed Trying to Jump Turnstile at New York Subway

A man has died after trying to avoid the $2.75 subway fare by leaping over the turnstiles.

Twenty-eight-year-old Christopher De La Cruz was seen on CCTV attempting to jump over the gate when the tragedy occured…

The traumatizing CCTV footage shows De La Cruz making multiple attempts to jump over the bar at the Forest Hills-71st Avenue train station.

After the first try, he drops his phone, which lands on the other side of the turnstile.

Trying a second time, he loses his balance, but carries on struggling to get his footing.

The third and fatal attempt sees De La Cruz hoisting his legs up before getting caught on the bar, sending him flying forwards.

He tragically lands on his head, with his legs landing behind him, breaking his neck instantly.

The footage shared on social media shows De La Cruz lying motionless after the fall, and was pronounced dead at the scene when police arrived at 6:45 am Sunday morning.

According to New York Post, police said he was “attempting to evade the fare” when he tragically lost his life.

Despite this, he didn’t deserve to die.
