And, in some extreme cases, people have been known to legally change their birth name to something a little more appropriate.

But a bizarre case has surfaced this week.

A man has gone viral after he legally changed his name in a bid to be known around the world.

The man, formerly known as Deano Wilson, is an audio and visual installation engineer from the UK.

Wilson says he prides himself on his "day-to-day" comedy jokes, with his latest stunt seeing him change his name.

But this is no ordinary name...

Wilson clearly doesn't like to do things half-hearted.

He has changed his name in a bid to be known across the world...

And to get back at people who laughed when he claimed that one day the whole world would know who he was.

He says his new name is the "height of comedy."

Now, the thirty-nine-year-old says the whole world will recognize his name.

And there's a huge reason for this...

Because his new name is something we really do see all the time.

"People laugh at me when I say ‘one day I will be so famous, the whole world will recognize my name."

"So, what better way to do so by having my name in lights in every building, in every country, in every language all over the globe. No matter where you go, my name is illuminated," he continued.

When you think about it, his new name is kind of genius - for the purposes of why he's done it at least.

Wilson has legally hanged his name to "Fire Exit." Yep, really. Wilson (or Fire Exit, should we say), even joked that people will "run to me in an emergency" and "look for me to feel safe."
