Inside shocking 2,000-person nude cruise.

Some vacations are all about relaxing by the beach, or maybe a city tour with some light shopping and sightseeing.

But for one man, those options didn’t quite hit the spot.

Instead, he signed up for an experience that’s definitely not your average getaway—a 2,000-person nude cruise.

Yes, you read that right. Picture a cruise liner packed with passengers leaving their clothes—and their inhibitions—back on shore.

But, as one passenger is now revealing, this cruise wasn’t all “anything goes.”

There was one rule ‘everyone knew’ they absolutely had to follow.
The backstory of Bare Necessities unveiled.

Bare Necessities Tour and Travel was founded in 1990, aimed at bringing naturist vacations to the mainstream.

The company quickly rose to fame for offering nudist cruises—where freedom of dress, or undress, is taken seriously.

Their mission? To create safe, respectful spaces for nudists to travel comfortably without the judgment of typical vacation spots.

Their cruises have grown in popularity, with Bare Necessities now running nearly 60 nude cruises a year.

With each trip, they prioritize a family-friendly, nonsexual atmosphere, sticking to a code of conduct that all passengers must follow.

Onboard, there’s an unspoken understanding that personal comfort—and respect for others—comes first.

While some might assume a nudist cruise is wild or unstructured, passengers share that the atmosphere is closer to a close-knit, respectful community.

This man’s experience is just one example of how careful Bare Necessities is about maintaining this vibe.

So, what’s the story behind this one-of-a-kind voyage?

Organized by the Texas-based travel agency Bare Necessities Tour and Travel, this cruise set sail from Tampa, Florida.

The week-long adventure promised passengers an uninhibited exploration of the seas, with stops in Mexico and Honduras.

For around $2,500 per person, the experience was marketed to seasoned nudists rather than thrill-seekers.

As the man later shared in an online thread, the vibe on board was more relaxed than risqué.

“It wasn’t a swingers’ cruise or a sex-positive environment,” he explained, countering some assumptions.

Instead, it was “a crowd with lots of nudist experience.”

And, while most guests left their clothes in their cabins, the cruise line enforced some very specific etiquette.

To start, passengers had to wait for a signal from the captain before shedding their clothing.

About 30 minutes after departing each port, the captain would make an announcement giving the all-clear.

“Same in reverse, going into port,” the man added.

Though clothing was technically optional, he said, “most people were nude most of the time.”

But before you think this sounds a bit too uninhibited, remember, there were rules in place for everyone’s comfort.

Of all the rules, though, one stands out above the rest: no photography.

The man explained, “I was much less worried here than I have been at nude beaches.”

There were signs posted all over the ship, reminding passengers to leave their cameras behind and focus on the experience.

And staff from the charter company were there to make sure everyone followed proper naturist etiquette.

For this reason, the man said he could truly relax, knowing his privacy was fully protected.
