Now, we all know Mark Wahlberg for being one of Hollywood's most prolific actors...

And he's risen to levels of unprecedented fame since his first acting job in 1994.

He's best known for roles in movies such as The Perfect Storm (2000), Planet of the Apes (2001), and The Italian Job (2003)...

And he's also known for comedic roles in movies such as Ted (2012) and Daddy's Home (2015).

In fact, believe it or not, he was the highest-paid actor in the world in 2017.

Quite an impressive accolade, we must say!

Alongside acting, Wahlberg is also a producer and businessman...

And he received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame back in 2010.

So, there's no denying he's had an extremely successful professional life...

But behind the scenes, things haven't always been so seemingly perfect.

In fact, the actor is certainly no stranger to controversy.

As a teenager, Wahlberg, who comes from a family of 9 siblings, dropped out of high school and quickly became embroiled in a life of crime.

By the age of thirteen, he was addicted to drugs...

And he got himself involved in drug dealing, stealing, and all-around violent behavior which would eventually lead to him serving time in prison at the age of sixteen.

He's certainly lead a very interesting life...

But sadly, the actor was caught up in some pretty bad antics as a teenager and a young man.

While living in Boston in the 1980s, Wahlberg was twice charged for race-related hate crimes, serving time in jail for one of the attacks.

In 2014, the actor attempted to seek pardon for one of the attacks and have it wiped from his criminal record, saying that while his celebrity should "in no way, shape or form" be a reason to grant it, he hoped his recent actions would show that he had changed.

"I am deeply sorry for the actions that I took on the night of April 8th, 1988, as well as for any lasting damage that I may have caused the victims. Since that time, I have dedicated myself to becoming a better person and citizen so that I can be a role model to my children and others," he wrote in his pardon application.

He later dropped this request in 2016 and in a 2020 interview with The Guardian, he explained that he had "done the work" to make things right.

"I took it upon myself to own up to my mistakes and go against the grain and not be a part of the gang anymore – to say that I was going to go and do my own thing," he explained.

"[It] made it ten times more difficult to walk from my home to the train station, to go to school, to go to work. But I also prided myself on doing the right thing and turning my life around... I would hope that people would be able to get a second chance in life."

It's clear that Wahlberg deeply regrets his vicious crimes...

And he's been building on reforming himself for many years now.

Including his own personal health and fitness.

Now, we all know that the actor is renowned for his incredible fitness and his dedication to staying in the best shape possible... not to mention his grueling workout regimes that begin at 2 o'clock most mornings!

It's a huge no from us, by the way!

Well, it seems as if Wahlberg will do pretty much anything to land those leading roles in movies...

Because the star has decided to put on a ton of weight for his upcoming role and after being spotted filming recently, fans just can't believe their eyes over his jaw-dropping transformation!

The usually ripped star has had an incredible transformation after he reportedly gained 9kg (20lbs) for his new flick, Father Stu...

In which he plays Father Stuart Long, a former heavyweight boxer turned priest.

The actor was seen on the streets of Los Angeles last week with a cropped haircut and what appeared to be a prosthetic chin to give him a fuller face...

But he was noticeably a lot heavier than he normally is.

Wahlberg recently revealed he gave himself just weeks to gain the extra weight.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he explained:

"After we do the boxing scenes, I get to put on as much weight as possible over the course of the film, so I'm challenging myself to put on thirty pounds in the next 6 weeks. They want me to do it as healthy as possible. I'm like, 'Dude, I've been on such a regimen for so long, I just want to eat everything in sight'."

Personal chef Lawrence Duran also told E! News that Wahlberg is eating 8 meals a day - around 7,000 calories - to help him gain weight and stressed that everything was carefully monitored.

"We meet with a team of doctors who do his bloodwork and a nutritionist who gives us a full breakdown of what his body needs, what his body's lacking and basically come up with a meal plan accordingly," the chef explained.

"We do good carbohydrates, dark green vegetables, and then, just switch up the protein throughout the day and, at least, a dozen eggs a day."

Here's Wahlberg's jaw-dropping transformation:
