Reddit users are giving their thoughts after a Marvel actor was found guilty of reckless assault and harassment.

Over the past decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become one of the most beloved movie franchises of all time.

Made mostly of family-friendly films, movies including The Avengers, Thor, Ant-Man, and more are beloved by cinephiles of all ages.

While the movie studio seemed unstoppable for a while, they’re currently facing a huge problem with one of their star–especially since Marvel is owned by Disney, a company known for their family-friendly values.

One actor who was supposed to take over Marvel’s films over the course of the next couple years has been found guilty of reckless assault and harassment in his domestic violence trial.

Jonathan Majors first popped up in the MCU during Season 1 of Loki in 2021, continuing on in Season 2 this year. He was also in the February film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Majors played megavillain Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phases 4 through 6.Â

The Creed III actor was facing a total of four misdemeanor charges after an incident with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabari.

While Majors was not found guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and of aggravated harassment in second degree, he was found guilty of reckless assault and harassment.

Soon after his arrest back in March, Majors was fired by his manager 360 Entertainment and publicist The Lede Company.

He was also let go from a number of projects including Protagonist Pictures’ feature adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel The Man in My Basement, an ad campaign for the Texas Rangers MLB team, and the unannounced Otis Redding biopic that the actor was circling from Fifth Season.

While Marvel waited until a verdict was read to make their announcement, they immediately dropped the actor after he was found guilty.

Majors will be sentenced on February 6 and faces up to one year in prison or probation.

For now, it’s unclear whether Marvel will recast the role or change up their storylines in the future, since Majors’ character was expected to be such a big part of the upcoming slate of movies.

The studio is clearly not afraid of recasting major roles, previously doing so for the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo replaced Ed Norton) and Rhodey (Don Cheadle replaced Terrance Howard).

Following news of Majors’ guilty verdict, fans of the actor and of Marvel are reacting to the studio dropping him.

“Yeah, Disney is definitely done with him now,” ItsSirAdam wrote on Reddit before it was announced that the actor was dropped by Marvel.

“I guess he didn’t take Cassie Lang’s advice about not being a d**k,” user Pomojema_The_Dreamer said, referencing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

They continued, “Seriously though, what an absolute waste of talent on a guy who turned out to be a jacka**. Utterly disappointing. I offer sympathy to victims of his abuse.”
Other fans offered their advice on who should be recast in the role, throwing out names they’d like to see take over as Kang The Conquerer.

“The absolute best, and most sensible thing for Feige to do now, is do everything in his power to get Denzel in this role,” Spiderlander wrote.

“Don’t, cause Denzel as Kang would be brilliant,” user PM_ME_YOUR_SOULZ replied. “Just his acting in The Equalizer is enough to show he’d be amazing and terrifying as Kang.”

Still, not everyone is on board with an actor like Denzel Washington taking over.

“Denzel is 68, there plenty of very talented black actors the same age or near the same age as Majors,” user vinnybawbaw pointed out.

“Damson Idris (Franklin in Snowfall) would make a good Kang I feel like,” Visible_Strategy_657 pointed out.

Rooneytoons89 wrote, “Lakeith Stanfield is KILLING it right now, I’d love to see him get a bag of cash from marvel.”

“Sterling K. Brown could make a good Kang, I think,” added electric_ocelots.

“Just recast him and move on,” princealiofil concluded. “It’s not like they haven’t done it before.”
