Just before his death, Stan Lee filed a $1 billion lawsuit against POW! Entertainment, which he co-founded.

As per The Guardian, Lee claims the company tricked him into signing a contract that would allow for his likeness and intellectual property to be used.

However, according to The Verge, the lawsuit was dropped just months before his death after it was found to be an exclusive agreement, something Lee claimed he didn’t realize at the time.

Lee gave a statement following the dismissal, saying: “The whole thing has been confusing to everyone, including myself and the fans, but I am now happy to be surrounded by those who want the best for me.”

He continued: “I am thrilled to put the lawsuit behind me, get back to business with my friends and colleagues at POW! and launch the next wave of amazing characters and stories!”

Heyward told The Hollywood Reporter that after appearing in a whopping thirty-seven movies, fans would be over the moon to see him on the big screen once again…

“The audience revered Stan, and if it’s done with taste and class, and respectful of who he was, [uses of his likeness] will be welcomed,” he said.

“He is a beloved personality, and long after you and I are gone, he will remain the essence of Marvel.”
