Meghan Markle Breaks Maternity Leave Silence to Share a Statement

Having recently welcomed their daughter, Lilibet Diana, into the world, both Prince Harry and Megan Markle have decided to take some time off work to spend time with their growing family.

But Markle decided to break her maternity leave silence to share something rather special.

Markle’s children’s book, The Bench, has soared to number one of the New York Times bestsellers charts.

A new post appeared on the Archewell website, their charitable organisation named after their son Archie, announcing that “Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex’s debut children’s book, The Bench, is #1 on The New York Times Bestseller list for children’s picture books after being released just last week. Congratulations to everyone involved in the project.”

The book was originally based on a poem that Megan wrote for Harry as a fathers day gift.

It surrounds the story of an unbreakable bond between a father and son. How cute is that?
Even though this was originally just a gift to her son and husband, Megan gracefully explained that “while this poem began as a love letter to my husband and son, I’m encouraged to see that its universal themes of love, representation, and inclusivity are resonating with communities everywhere.”

“In many ways, pursuing a more compassionate and equitable world begins with these core values.”

Megan continued, “Equally, to depict another side of masculinity — one grounded in connection, emotion, and softness — is to model a world that so many would like to see for their sons and daughters alike. Thank you for supporting me in this special project.”

“To the man and the boy who make my heart go pump-pump.”

The book features many heartwarming references to the Duke of Sussex and their 2-year-old son, Archie Harrison.
Some people say that they’ve even seen reference to Lilibet…

The Bench‘s final illustration shows a red-haired man helping a young boy feed chickens while a dark-haired woman stands in a garden cradling a baby.

Book stores are thrilled with the new stock…

And we aren’t surprised because it’s an adorable and beautiful representation of the bond between father and son!
