Despite stepping down from her position at the beginning of 2020, Meghan Markle has continued to use her royal title of the Duchess of Sussex on all her platforms, including her newest children's book. However, people are now calling for their royal titles to be revoked.

Even though they stepped down from their royal duties last year, Meghan Markle is said to be 'determined' to keep her royal title.

A source close to the actress said that Meghan believes losing her title as Duchess of Sussex could be a 'PR disaster'.

Meghan and Harry continue to have a media presence despite moving away from the royal family to lead a more 'private life'.

Meghan and Harry married in 2018, but stepped away from royal duties and moved to an $11 million house in Los Angeles in 2020.

They have been criticised ruthlessly for their ongoing media presence.

With Harry being a constant source of information for talk show hosts like Oprah, with whom he produced a documentary-series about mental health called The Me You Can't See, which included celebrities like Lady Gaga and Glenn Close.

Harry has been very open with his criticism of the Royal Family, which they call 'The Firm'.

"I thought my family would help — but every single ask, request, warning, whatever it is, just got met with total silence or total neglect," he said in the new documentary.

"I've seen behind the curtain, I've seen the business model and seen how this whole thing works and I don't want to be part of this."

"It's the job right? Grin and bear it. Get on with it," Harry explained. "I was in my early 20s, and I was thinking I don't want this job, I don't want to be here. I don't want to be doing this. Look what it did to my mum. How am I ever going to settle down and have a wife and family, when I know it's going to happen again?"

And we all remember that interview with Oprah back in March.

Where the couple revealed many mishaps which happened during their time within the Royal Family.

Meghan accused the Royals of racism, following the pregnancy of their first child Archie.

Megan said in her interview with Oprah: "In those months when I was pregnant... we have in tandem the conversation of, you won't be given security, not gonna be given a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born."

Though she neglected to inform us which royal it was that said these things.

She was also asked if she was upset by her son not being given a royal title...

"All the grandeur surrounding this stuff is an attachment I don't personally have.

"I have been a waitress, an actress, a princess, a duchess, and I've always just been Meghan.

"The most important title I will ever have is Mom (sic)..."

Harry has said that he wanted to break the genetic chain of pain he has from his family.

He accused his father Prince Charles of being particularly neglectful. Harry and Charles reunited in April 2021 for Prince Phillip's funeral, but they did not reconnect in a meaningful way. "Unfortunately, Harry and Charles didn't resolve their differences when Harry returned to the U.K. They barely communicated," an insider said at the time. "There definitely continues to be a huge wedge between the two."

Harry has previously been very positive about his relationship with his father.

In a 2017 documentary about the death of Princess Diana, Harry praised Charles as a single parent: "[Our dad] was there for us — he was the one out of two left, and he tried to do his best and to make sure that we were protected and looked after. But he was going through the same grieving process as well."

They seemed to have a good relationship previous to the couple's split from the royal family...

"It's the things he does behind the scenes that people don't know about," Harry explained in 2017. "I don't think people realize quite how kind he is."

However, since 2020, there are reports that the relationship is 'hanging on by a thread'.

Harry claimed in his March 2021 tell-all that Charles "stopped taking my calls" after his and Meghan's 2020 royal exit, noting that "there's a lot to work through" with his dad. "I feel really let down because he's been through something similar, he knows what pain feels like. … Archie is his grandson," he said. "I will always love him. There's a lot of hurt that's happened. I will continue to make it one of my priorities to heal that relationship."

Now, despite stepping down, they continue to use their royal titles in their public life.

Meghan, 39, has referred to herself as 'The Duchess of Sussex' on all platforms, recently writing children's book The Bench under that name.

A source close to the Suits actress disclosed Meghan's fear of her title being revoked.

Getty Images

"She's told Harry that they need to tone down the attacks on the royal family - she's afraid they'll take away their royal titles, which would be a PR disaster."

"Right now, she's inundated with offers, and that's in part to being a Duchess."

This comes after Harry has dropped 'truth bombs' on how The Firm has affected his mental health.

Getty Images

He even admitted that he used alcohol and narcotics in his 20's to help come to terms with the death of his mother Princess Diana in 1997 when he was just 12. He claimed the royal family and his father, in particular, was neglectful, and that he needed to 'play the game'.

His vendetta against Charles has been ruthless...

He told Oprah in his AppleTV+ Documentary The Me You Can't See that "My father used to say to me when I was younger, he used to say to both William and I, 'Well it was like that for me so it's going to be like that for you."

Harry has been very candid about growing up as a British royal.

"Just because you suffered doesn't mean that your kids have to suffer, in fact quite the opposite - if you suffered, do everything you can to make sure that whatever negative experiences you had, that you can make it right for your kids."

When they initially split from the Royal Family, Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying the couple could keep their titles.

"With The Queen's blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations."]

"While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty. The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family."

However in the past year, with the ongoing disclosures surrounding the Royal Family and its inner workings, many feel like the couple should be stripped of their titles...

More than 20,000 people have signed a petition to have Harry and Meghan stripped of their titles.

The petition was launched by royal expert Lady Colin Campbell, author of Meghan and Harry: The Real Story.

She said she thinks Harry should request that the Queen put his titles into abeyance, meaning they would go into a state of temporary disuse or suspension.

"I have spoken to people, many people, who think it's the right thing to do and it is the solution.

"It is a dignified solution for all concerned. To humiliate no-one and protect everyone. I think it's a humane way of solving a very regrettable situation."

Lady Colin Campbell believes Meghan and Harry would still be able to sell their brand without the use of royal titles.

Getty Images

She claims the main reason is "because it frees Harry to be able to indulge himself without consequence and without doing damage to the institution of the monarchy of the British nation, the British people and himself."

"He doesn't need them - he is too big for them now."

Getty Images

"As a purely private citizen, with no royal rank, style or title, he will be able to indulge his personal beliefs, as is the right of all private citizens, without the consequential possibility of damaging the institution of the Monarchy or relations between Friendly Powers, and will be free to articulate beliefs, no matter how objectionable, without the fallout that is otherwise inevitable as long as he possesses royal status"

The couple continue to disclose information regarding the royal family.
