Now, McCain has been a public figure for most of her life.

She made her first public appearance at the 1996 Republican National Convention with her father, the former United States Senator, John McCain.

Then in 2007, McCain received media attention of her own for her blog…

Her blog, McCain Blogette, documented life on the campaign trail during her father’s 2008 presidential campaign, as well as musing about fashion, music, and pop culture.

And that opened many doors for her when it came to writing…

And, in the following years, she would go on to write columns for The Daily Beast, as well as publishing her own book, My Dad, John McCain.

In 2011, McCain became an analyst on MSNBC and went on to land a variety of jobs with Fox News and Outnumbered.

She then went on to become a permanent co-host of the ABC daytime talk show, The View.

She made her debut on the October 9, 2017, episode.

Sadly, a year later, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2017, McCain’s beloved father, John McCain, sadly passed away in August 2018 at the age of eighty-one.

Understandably, this was a huge blow for McCain…

Who was incredibly close to her father, right up until his death.

Speaking to People in 2019, McCain had said: “I felt like a nuclear bomb went off in my life. I was a mess. I was barely functioning.”

It was an extremely difficult time for McCain.

But she finally got that little bit of good news she so desperately needed.

She was pregnant!

And, on September 28th, 2020 her daughter finally arrived into the world.

As a celebrity in the public eye, McCain has received a lot of criticism online.

In fact, while she pregnant she decided to keep very tight-lipped about her pregnancy due to trolls.

But this week, McCain has caught the attention of users on social media for an entirely different reason…

Her replacement on The View has finally been chosen.

And fans are pretty happy with the decision, although some are questioning the new choice.

Many took to social media to share their thoughts…

One Twitter user wrote: “S*** it’s about time they replace Megan.”

A second commented: “So long as it’s not another Meghan McCain.”

“I hope she is the one. A sensible Republican, not a crazed Republican,” a third wrote.

“There is no such thing as a sensible Republican. Literally,” added another.

It has been announced that Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was the former White House communications director for Donald Trump, has been chosen.

She will start as part of the panel this September for the twenty-sixth season of the show.

Since McCain left on August 6 last year, producers have been bringing new panel members in to fill her seat.

But now Griffin will be a permanent member along with Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro.

According to the Daily Mail, a source close to Griffin said: “My jaw dropped when I was told that she was the pick. It makes no sense.

“Part of me wishes they just leaned into MAGA and hired Kimberly Guilfoyle, at least it would better reflect part of the audience and there would be fireworks every day.”

Another insider said: “Her soon-to-be co-hosts are very upset. They feel she isn’t authentic and changes her opinions based on who her paymaster is.

“Ana Navarro especially feels let down as they are hiring someone who was an essential part of the movement that destabilized this country.

“Alyssa’s family is also problematic. Her father Joseph founded WorldNetDaily a website that promotes conspiracy theories. It’s terrifying.”

A third source added: “Her appointment will also cost us bookings. Wanda Sykes pulled out because she didn’t want to be on the show with her.”

Clearly, people are skeptical about Griffin joining the show.

But people are still concerned about why McCain left the show…

Since leaving The View, McCain has been vocal about the “negative experience” on the show…

  via Getty Images

Especially as she voiced her concern of Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.

“The thing about Whoopi, though, is that she yields so much power in culture and television, and once she turns on you, it can create unfathomable tension at the table.

“I found her open disdain for me more and more difficult to manage as the years went on and it became more frequent. Occasionally, if the show’s political discourse veered into territory that she found disagreeable, Whoopi would cut me off, sometimes harshly,” McCain said in her recent audio memoir Bad Republican.

And that’s not all…

Some viewers were actually quite excited that McCain had left the show for good last year…

“Bye Nutmeg! Please stay off TV forever now, Mrs The Federalist @MeghanMcCain
#TheView,” wrote one Twitter user.

While another said that the co-host wouldn’t mind if people flooded her tweets with a “gif of Kamala waving goodbye.”

But people still wanted to know why McCain took the huge step to quit the show for good…

  via Getty Images

And the reason will surprise you.

The former morning co-host recently explained on The Commentary Magazine Podcast that Joy Behar’s response to her returning from maternity leave was the “catalyst” for her departure.

After giving birth to her daughter, Liberty, the mother of 1 realized that the “job was not worth it.”

“I finally went back to the show, and the day I went back to the show, Joy Behar said on air, Nobody missed you, we didn’t miss you, you shouldn’t have come back,” McCain said.

Everyone also witnessed it on live television as well…

“And I just… I started hysterically crying. Sorry gentlemen, I know, I started lactating on air, and I started crying.

  via Getty Images

“I didn’t feel supported when I had my baby, and I didn’t feel supported coming back, and that was ultimately it,” she said.

“That was why I left!” McCain confessed.

Well, that breaks the ice on her departure, and now everyone knows!
