And her track reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and sold eleven million copies worldwide… although it drew criticism for its lyrical content.

But what song doesn’t, right?

Trainor went on to release her debut album, Title, in 2015 which included the top-10 singles ‘Lips Are Movin’ and ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You’.

Her single ‘No’ led her follow-up album, Thank You, in 2016…

Both of which reached number 3 on the respective charts.

Fast forward a few years and Trainor announced she was expecting her first child with her husband, Daryl Sabara.

Taking to Instagram in October 2020, she wrote: “You all know how long I’ve wanted this!!!! @darylsabara and I are so beyond happy and excited to meet this little cutie early next year! WE’RE PREGNANTTTTT!!!”

The couple were glowing with happiness as they prepared for their little arrival…

And on February 8, 2021, the special day finally arrived.

Baby Riley was welcomed into the world.

“This sweet baby boy’s due date was today on Valentine’s Day. We got to meet him Monday, Feb 8th! We are SO IN LOVE! Thank you @darylsabara for the best Valentine’s gift ever! Welcome to the world Riley!” Trainor wrote in an Instagram post.

The singer hasn’t been posting as often since her son was born…

Which is completely understandable, of course! Any new mom and dad need the privacy to bond with their baby and adjust to their new roles in life.

But now, Trainor has decided to open up about her first few months of motherhood…

And it turns out that things haven’t exactly been smooth sailing for the new parents.

Trainor took to social media to share the rocky start Riley had…

And it’s seriously tugged on fans’ and fellow parents’ heartstrings.

In an emotional video, the singer wrote:

“We had a rocky start… but Riley is perfect, happy, and healthy… so lucky to be your mama sweet boy.”

The video contains short clips of little Riley’s progress since being born…

From being in an incubator covered in tubes to being able to come home with his mom and dad.

While Trainor didn’t disclose exactly why Riley was kept in the hospital for observation…

We’re just relieved to see him doing so well and, of course, to see him looking so adorable!

During a recent interview with Romper, Trainor revealed why Riley was hospitalized…

And she wasn’t pleased when nurses said her use of antidepressants was what kept her child in hospital.

Riley was in the hospital due to not being able to wake up to feed.

“They kept asking me if I was on antidepressants during the pregnancy,” she said.

“And I was, but on the lowest dose possible, and all my doctors said it was safe and wouldn’t affect him.

“It was really expletive. They had no name for what was wrong. He just wouldn’t wake up,” Trainor continued.

She added: “They said, ‘It’s really up to Riley when he wants to wake up.’ I’d be like ‘Really? Can’t you just zap him and get him up?'”

Trainor said that she was a victim of depression, anxiety, and panic disorder before admitting the panic attack she experienced on live TV back in 2016.

“I’m not ashamed to say I’m on antidepressants.

“That medicine saved me, saved my life, saved my career. I’m back better than ever. I’m in the best place of my life,” she said.
