Halftime is a documentary that explores Lopez’s life both on and off the stage, and it reveals a few of the singer’s feelings toward the Halftime show that she co-headlined with Shakira, too.

And it turns out, she wasn’t too happy that she had to share the stage with Shakira.

Now, although the 2020 Super Bowl performance seemed a blast…

With Shakira opening the show with the song ‘Dare’ and then going on to sing songs like ‘She Wolf’ and ‘Whenever Whenever’, and Jennifer Lopez joining the stage on a pole to sing songs such as ‘Jenny from the Block’ and ‘Aint it Funny’, there was one thing that didn’t sit right with Lopez.

According to the Daily Mail, in the premiered documentary, Lopez wasn’t originally pleased that she’d have to share the stage.

“We have six f**king minutes. We have 30 seconds of a song, and if we take a minute, that’s it, we’ve got five left. But, there’s got to be certain songs that we sing, though. We have to have our singing moments. It’s not going to be a dance f**king revue. We have to sing our message,” Lopez was heard telling her Music Director, according to the news outlet.

And although the star has nothing against Shakira, she definitely wasn’t happy about the plan to co-headline.

“This is the worst idea in the world to have two people do the Super Bowl. It was the worst idea in the world,” she continued.

It hit a particular nerve with Lopez because she’d been working towards the moment she could appear on stage at the Super Bowl.

“This is something I have been working for and hoping for years,” she said.

Her manager, Benny Medina, also spoke out, calling the decision an insult…

“Typically, you have one headliner at a Super Bowl. That headliner constructs a show, and, should they choose to have other guests, that’s their choice,” he said. “It was an insult to say you needed two Latinas to do the job that one artist historically has done,” Medina said.

While Shakira tried to navigate her way around the decision, Lopez continued to express her feelings…

According to the news outlet, when Shakira discussed the fact they have twelve minutes between them and said she doesn’t know how much time she is going to have, Lopez, told her that she’ll have “half the time” while the infuriated singer will have the other half.

“If it was going to be a double-headliner, they should have given us 20 minutes. That’s what they should’ve f**king done,” she said.

While Lopez took no direct problem with Shakira, people on social media weren’t entirely impressed with her opinions…

“Jenny from the block would be disappointed you turned out like this. Be grateful you were in the halftime show. Be empowered and honored you got to share the stage with Shakira. That’s pure entitlement, complaining like this, via a documentary nonetheless. Do better. Be better,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Then why did you do the halftime show? Instead of being honored that you were asked to perform, you have to cry about it. You weren’t the only performer who shared a stage at the halftime show. This is exactly what is wrong with this world,” another expressed.

And, even though it wasn’t the way Lopez wanted to experience the Super Bowl, it was definitely a year to remember…

However, for some, it was for all the wrong reasons…

As Megyn Kelly has spoken out about the pair’s performance.

During an episode for her podcast, Kelly said: “I object to like J.Lo and Shakira showing their v*g at the Super Bowl.

“Like I don’t want that.”

She then crept towards the issue of discussing women “embracing their bodies.”

“It’s gotta be situation appropriate.

“But I don’t really object to just women embracing their bodies or showing up their bodies like the pictures,” Kelly said.

During the show, Lopez could be seen pole dancing, while Shakira was twerking and belly dancing.

Kelly wasn’t the only one who found their performance inappropriate as others were also taken a back by the performance…

One Twitter user wrote: “Not appropriate for kids at a Super Bowl halftime show. Just J Lo’s outfits in general.”
