Melania Trump’s redesign of the famous White House Rose Garden was hugely controversial – and now a petition has been launched calling for Jill Biden to undo her work…
It seems even after leaving the White House, people still aren’t happy with Melania.
And it’s what she did to the rose garden that has many feeling really annoyed.
Now, Donald Trump first met his wife back in 1998.
Melania, who is from Slovenia, was working as a model and businesswoman when she met businessman Donald at a party.
He was in the process of divorcing his second wife, Marla Maples…
Though this didn’t stop him from asking Melania out, to which she accepted.
The pair were dating for around 6 years when they became engaged in 2004…
And they tied the knot in 2005 in a lavish ceremony at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida, followed by a reception in the ballroom at Donald’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
Donald already had 4 children from his first 2 marriages…
And in 2006, his first and only child with Melania was born – Barron William Trump.
The pair seemed to enjoy a happy marriage…
And there was no doubt that they both enjoyed the finer things in life, with them frequently attending star-studded events across the world.
But this was all to change in 2016.
Donald Trump began his presidential campaign and, much to the shock of the entire world, he was elected as the forty-fifth president of the United States in January 2017 – instantly making Melania the first lady.
Initially, Melania struggled to find her feet as the first lady…
And she was very quickly cast aside by her husband’s brash ideas as president.
And of course, it didn’t take long for the criticisms to begin.
In comparison to former first ladies such as Michelle Obama, Melania was slammed for not sharing the same passion and charisma; and it was clear that as Donald’s wife, she never thought she’d be in this position.
Who can blame her though?
I think we can all agree that when marrying Donald all those years ago, being America’s First Lady was never on the agenda.
However, Melania valiantly took it in her stride…
And threw herself into the prestigious role with gusto.
But there was one area where Melania was widely criticized.
And that was her redesign of the iconic White House Rose Garden.
It was famously first designed by Jackie Kennedy in 1962.
And had been the scene of many landmark political moments.
And most importantly?
It was (as the name would suggest) filled with roses!
But that wasn’t to Melania’s taste.
And during Trump’s presidency, she undertook a huge redesign of the garden.
It was left looking much simpler.
And missing much of the flowers it had become known for.
Now, a petition is calling for Jill Biden to get things back on track.
The petition reads, “In 2019, Melania Trump had the cherry trees, a gift from Japan, removed as well as the rest of the foliage and replaced with a boring tribute to herself.”
“Jackie’s legacy was ripped away from Americans who remembered all that the Kennedy’s meant to us.”
“We want Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff to take this on and restore the Rose Garden to Jackie’s original design.”
Do you think Biden should undertake a makeover?
