Do you think police officers should be allowed to openly disclose who they're supporting in this year's presidential election?
When it comes to choosing who to vote for in the upcoming presidential election...A little bit of confidence is expected.
This is especially expected from law enforcement...Just as it is from celebrities to keep their political opinions to themselves!
But it seems that one police officer in Miami decided he wanted his political views known...And he has caused a lot of anger by doing so.
Now, we are mere weeks away from the highly anticipated presidential election...
via: GettyAnd it's been an explosive journey coming up to it, to say the least!
Donald Trump is hoping to gain victory and be reelected as President of the United States...
via: GettyBut it seems that he has some serious competition from his Democratic rival, Joe Biden.
Of course, the election couldn't have fallen on a worse year...
via: GettyBut it has been powering on ahead... despite many major setbacks.
The first presidential debate was held on September 29th at the Samson Pavilion of the Health Education Campus in Cleveland.
via: GettyEntering into the debate, Biden had a significant and persistent lead in the polls. Biden's lead was compounded by a cash crunch in Trump's campaign, with Biden's campaign donations improving significantly.
Overall, the ninety-minute debate, which was held by Fox News' Chris Wallace, was a bitter one.
via: GettyBoth Trump and Biden seemed to be having a field day throwing insults at one another, calling each other out, and constantly interrupting each other.
The whole debate was certainly made personal...And it didn't leave a pleasant taste in the mouths of viewers who were, quite frankly, left feeling disgusted at what they had just witnessed.
It all felt very disorganized...
And the people of America have never before felt so disheartened in the run-up to an election.

But Trump's presidential campaign seems to be hitting rocks...And things took an ultimate turn for the worst when at the start of October, the President and the First Lady, Melania, tested positive for COVID-19. Trump insisted that they immediately went into self-isolation together and that they felt fine, but after just a few days, he was hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Centre.
Despite the huge worry surrounding Trump's health...
via: GettyHe was discharged just a few days later and insisted to the nation that all we need to do is to "learn to live with COVID", which was very concerning to hear.
Trump continued to insist on how he was "feeling better than ever."
via: GettyBut when Joe Biden proposed making the next presidential debate a virtual one in the interest of health and safety, Trump put his foot down.
So instead, Joe Biden participated in a Philadelphia town hall forum moderated by ABC's George Stephanopoulos on October 15th...
via: GettyAnd in typical Trump fashion, the president announced at the last minute that he would be holding his own town hall forum in Miami at exactly the same time, hosted by NBC.
Trump's event was hosted by NBC's Savannah Guthrie...
via: GettyAnd this was the first time ever that 2 hopeful presidential candidates went head-to-head at the same time while not being at the same event.
Right now, Joe Biden seems to be in the lead going by the polls...
via: GettyBut remember when we said this about Clinton's campaign 4 years ago?
It's going to be a tough decision for most of us on November 3rd...And the majority of us prefer not to preach about who we'll be supporting.
But when it comes to law enforcement?Well, anybody in law enforcement who's on duty is expected to keep their personal opinions to themselves.
Well, one police officer in Miami recently decided to make it perfectly clear who he'll be backing in the election.Steve Simeonidis, the chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party, was moving through the lobby of the Stephen P. Clark Government Center in downtown Miami yesterday when he spotted the cop wearing a face mask that said, "TRUMP 2020; NO MORE BULL****."
Steve pointed out on Twitter that not only was the cop's face mask totally inappropriate and was an example of voter intimidation ...
But it was also illegal.
Not only is this an egregious form of voter intimidation, but it’s also a crime. https://t.co/6IDoO3zHeZ— Steve Simeonidis (@Steve Simeonidis)1603218645.0
The cop was soon identified as Officer Daniel Ubeda...And speaking to Buzzfeed News, Steve explained how Ubeda got within 10 feet of people who were voting - under Florida law, only voters, poll workers, official poll watchers, and other individuals approved by election supervisors are permitted to enter a polling place.
Steve said he was so shocked by the officer's behavior, he felt he needed to take a photograph."I just said, 'Excuse me, officer, I just want to take a picture,' and he made some snide comment. He called me 'sweetheart' or something like that — just complete disregard of the fact that he was intentionally intimidating voters at the polling location."
It wasn't clear if Ubeda was at the government center in an official capacity or to vote himself, however.
But regardless, Ubeda shouldn't have been in full uniform. "He knew exactly what he was doing when he was walking into that polling site with a gun and that mask on," Steve said, "It was a brazen act of intimidation."

Miami PD was soon made aware of Ubeda's behavior...
And they issued a statement claiming that his behavior was "unacceptable" and was immediately addressed.

Deputy Police Chief Ron Papier told the Miami Herald that "appropriate disciplinary action" will be taken against Ubeda...
Although it is currently unclear as to what that disciplinary action will be. "Obviously this is a clear violation of our department policy regarding campaigning while on duty... additionally, the mask has offensive language, which is also a violation of department policy," he said.
@MiamiPD Let us know if/when you ACTUALLY do something. K thanks. https://t.co/xieTdxd3Ru— 𝓢𝓱𝓮𝓵𝓵𝔂 𝕨𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤 𝕒 𝕞𝕒𝕤𝕜 😷 (@𝓢𝓱𝓮𝓵𝓵𝔂 𝕨𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤 𝕒 𝕞𝕒𝕤𝕜 😷)1603220160.0
Of course, people are furious over the cop's outrageous behavior.
And it just goes to show how law enforcement is still riddled with bullies, racists, and ignorance.
