‘Forgotten’ Apollo 11 Astronaut Michael Collins Dies Aged 90

The tragic news has been announced that the “forgotten” Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins has passed away. His cause of death has since been confirmed.

Tributes have already begun pouring in for the brave astronaut…

Michael Collins was the third astronaut on the famous Apollo 11 mission.

Alongside Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong.

​Collins remained in orbit while his crewmates took their first lunar steps.

And was in charge of piloting the Apollo 11 command module Columbia.

Collins was born in Rome on October 31st 1921.

And graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point before joining the air force.

He then applied to join NASA in 1962.

And in January 1969, he was announced as a member of the Apollo 11 mission.

“The thing I remember most is the view of planet Earth from a great distance,” Collins famously recalled.

“Tiny. Very shiny. Blue and white. Bright. Beautiful. Serene and fragile.”

Collins passed away on April 28th, 2021, following a “valiant battle with cancer.”
