Back to the Future is one of the most iconic sci-fi movies of all time.

The first movie was released in 1985 and it gave us all kinds of eighties sci-fi goodness.
The story goes like this…

It followed the time-traveling adventures of Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) who is also known as the Doc.
Doc accidentally sends Marty, a typical eighties teenager, back in time to 1955.
When there, he must ensure his parents meet and fall in love in order for him to be born. What a nightmare!
They even made a part 2!

The second movie involves Marty and Doc traveling to the year 2020 which, we must say, portrays an extremely unrealistic futuristic world. We’re still waiting for those hoverboards!
For everyone who actually lived through 2020 now though, the world in the movie seems like somewhat of a dream…

Although we are still waiting for those hoverboards!
The Back to the Future trilogy is utterly timeless.

They are truly great family movies that will never get old.
But as we are all well aware, one of the movie’s leading stars hasn’t had the easiest of times in the last 2 decades…

Michael J. Fox, who played Marty, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991.
He was just twenty-nine-years-old when he received the diagnosis.

Even though he didn’t share this with the public until 7 years later, he committed himself to the campaign for increased Parkinson’s research in 1998.
Speaking to the New York Times in 2019, Fox said, “I was having this recurring problem with my spinal cord.

“I was told it was benign but if it stayed static I would have diminished feeling in my legs and difficulty moving. Then all of a sudden I started falling — a lot. It was getting ridiculous. I was trying to parse what was Parkinson’s and what was the spinal thing.”
“But it came to the point where it was probably necessary to have surgery. So I had surgery, and an intense amount of physical therapy after,” he continued.

Fox went on to describe how “eventually people asked me to do some acting.” However, when he woke up to go to work, he “misstepped” while making breakfast, which resulted in a severely fractured arm.
“It was such a blow,” the star said.

And so he had to make some sacrifices in his professional life…
Fox announced his retirement from Spin City in January 2000, effective upon the completion of his fourth season and 100th episode.

Expressing pride in the show, its talented cast, writers and creative team, he explained that “new priorities” made this the right time to step away from the demands of a weekly series.
After he moved on from acting, Fox founded The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

As per the charity’s website, The New York Times has called the organization “the most credible voice on Parkinson’s research in the world.”
However, he has returned to the screen over the years…

He returned to primetime network TV as Mike Henry on NBC’s The Michael J. Fox Show.
The show, which quickly gained nationwide attention, centered on a beloved newscaster and family man returning to work following a diagnosis with Parkinson’s.

It marked Fox’s return to regular TV for the first time since 2001 in Spin City.
But now, Fox has reunited with his most iconic co-star.

And fans have been loving it!
Fox was in attendance at the Back to the Future panel at New York Comic Con.

And so was his co-star Christopher Lloyd!
Fox walked out first and takes a seat, but when Lloyd comes out he stands back up.

The pair then had a big embrace, which evidently meant a lot to both of them.
They then went on to discuss a load of stories about the old movies, focusing particularly on tales from part 1.

As per TMZ, Fox reportedly said: “You guys have given me my whole life.”
He continued: “The best thing that happened in my life was this thing. Parkinson’s is a gift.

“I’ve said to people it’s a gift and they say, ‘You’re nuts.’ I say, ‘Yeah, but it’s the gift that keeps on taking.’ But it’s a gift and I wouldn’t change it for anything … It’s not about what I have, it’s about what I’ve been given.”
The whole thing was hugely thrilling for fans, who have taken to social media to share their excitement…

One wrote: “Amazing duo! Glad to see them together”.
Another said: “God bless Michael J. Fox. What an inspiration. He laughs and smiles through it all!”

What do you think about the reunion?
