President Biden's inauguration ceremony has concluded, and everyone can't stop talking about the symbolism behind the color purple which seemed to be a common theme during the event...
But why purple?
Well, apparently there is a specific meaning behind the outfit choices of Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris...
Keep scrolling to find out.
Now, the suspense surrounding today has been building for months.
Since President Biden's election victory on November 7th, our country has experienced political tensions like never before.
Most people argue that Biden's win was a fair one...
After 4 long days of vote counting - and plenty of recounting - the Democrat was projected as the forty-sixth President of the United States.
However, people on the other side of the political spectrum didn't take his win so readily.

Trump instantly attacked Biden's win with several unproven accusations of electoral fraud - and, of course, his loyal supporters added fuel to the flames with gusto.
But his efforts were to little avail...
Because, today, Joe Biden was officially sworn in as the forty-sixth President of the United States.
Of course, Trump didn't attend the inauguration.
He confirmed his absence in a tweet earlier this month before being banned from Twitter.
Instead, Trump left Washington D.C on Air Force One this morning...
And headed for the Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida.
But regardless of Trump's controversial absence, the inauguration went ahead smoothly...
And the entire world watched on as President Biden and his vice president, Kamala Harris, made their way through the sacred ceremony.
Biden's swearing-in was an emotional moment for many Americans...
And it signalled a whole new era for our country.
And of course...

How can we not mention Lady Gaga's performance of the national anthem?!
Biden's first speech as president struck a chord with viewers, too.
The new president gave a lengthy and emotional speech, where he addressed the deeply divided nation on what the next 4 years will hold under his ruling.
Biden promised to "write an American story of hope"...
As well as weighing in on the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the issue of racial inequality across the country.
"Millions of jobs have been lost. Hundreds of thousands of businesses closed. A cry for racial justice, some 400 years in the making, moves us. The dream of justice for all will be deferred no longer. A cry for survival comes from the planet itself, a cry that can't be any more desperate or any more clear now."
He also became the first POTUS to ever challenge white supremacy in his inauguration speech.
He said this:
"The rise of political extremism, white supremacy, domestic terrorism, that we must confront and we will defeat. To overcome these challenges, to restore the soul and secure the future of America, requires so much more than words. It requires the most elusive of all things in a democracy - unity."
All in all, it has been a very successful day for the forty-sixth president...
But the internet is distracted by something else entirely.
Everyone's outfits.
Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris were all suited in different shades of purple.
Obama was dressed in a plum-colored 3 piece with a statement gold belt to top off the look.

We were completely smitten.
Then we have Hillary Clinton, who opted for a more traditional look...
Honored to witness history today. May God bless @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris as they take on the work of healing our nation. May we all fulfill our duty as citizens to help our country and our fellow Americans through the challenges ahead. pic.twitter.com/dooSLnFePe

The bright frills were a risky touch, but paired with the duller shade of her jacket, it works.
And then finally, we have the one and only Kamala Harris...

Now if you're looking for a combination of bold and beautiful, look no further than the Vice President of the United Sates. Combined with dark gloves and pearls on her neck, Harris really pulled off what could have otherwise been a wild choice of an outfit.
And of course, we couldn't help but pry into the symbolism behind their choice.
Our three fearless women in purple.

Thank you @KamalaHarris, @MichelleObama, and @HillaryClinton. pic.twitter.com/kfGcgcn0lj
People seemed to immediately pick up on the fact that there was a little trend going...
And they all had their own theories behind the obvious color choice...
Not sure if she did it on purpose, but thank you @VP @KamalaHarris for wearing purple, the color of #domesticviolence awareness 💜💜💜Congratulations 🎉 and #ThankGodItsBidenDay pic.twitter.com/hB6EvFjPFB

Vice President @KamalaHarris, @MichelleObama, and @HillaryClinton were all wearing shades of purple. The color purple is regal and governs the crown chakra. It also awakens intuitive abilities, while invoking hope, creativity and inspiration.💜

I love that the First Lady and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, and Vice President Kamala Harris both wore PURPLE to honor the woman, who paved the way in 1972 by being the first woman on the Presidential ticket as Vice President, Shirley Chisolm. ❤❤❤ pic.twitter.com/qjbpFdoUWa

However, one theory stood out from the rest...
Don’t know if this was the thinking but I love that Kamala wore purple - which is the unity of the colors of red and blue.

A lot of people were clinging onto the idea that purple was their choice because it's the combination of red and blue: The colors that divided the nation during the lead-up to the election.
What do you think?
We're loving the outfits combined with the strength of the political undertone.
Stay tuned for more updates on the all-important inauguration day.
