Now, Takeoff was best known for being a member of the rapping trio, Migos.

The group consisted of Takeoff, his uncle, Quavious Keyate Marshall, and cousin Offset, full name, Kiari Kendrell Cephus.

They started out back in 2008, first called Polo Club, before later changing their name.

Their first big hit was their 2013 song ‘Versace’, which caught the attention of Drake, who later remixed the track.

Takeoff was dedicated to Migos, and in 2015 he helped get their debut album Yung Rich Nation on the music scene…

Featuring hitmakers Chris Brown and Young Thug.

This thrust the group into the spotlight…

And it wasn’t long before other big names wanted to work with them.

In 2016 Migos got to number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 with the single ‘Bad and Boujee’…

The single went on to win a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the Grammys.

After their success, Drake collaborated with the group on their 2018 track ‘Walk It Talk It’, which was also a huge hit.

And they later featured Nicki Minaj and Cardi B in their song ‘MotorSport’.

This meeting even led to some matchmaking…

As Cardi B went on to marry Offset in 2017.

In 2017, the group released their second album titled Culture

It didn’t take long for this hit to reach number one in the charts and it later achieved platinum status.

In 2018 they released Culture II, which also impressively hit the top of the Billboard 200…

Then in 2021, they completed their album trilogy with Culture III.

Tragically, Takeoff’s success has been cut short.

As the rapper was reportedly shot dead on November 1 at an event in Houston, Texas.

Now, as we know, Texas has pretty lax laws when it comes to guns.

And sadly, it’s the citizens that suffer most.

Shockingly, just last year government officials made it even easier for people to own and purchase a firearm.

Passing a bill that people no longer have to have a license to carry in order to carry a handgun in public.

Officials said last year that the law is necessary…

Because obtaining a license to carry “infringes” on Texans’ Second Amendment rights.

Some law enforcement officials opposed the bill at the time…

Arguing that it would make police officers’ jobs more dangerous.

Despite this, it still went ahead.

And now, tragically Takeoff has lost his life.

Understandably, fans were distraught by the news…

And many have since taken to social media to share their tributes to the star.

Juice Wayne wrote: “Takeoff, man… Offset lost a brother he’ll never get to fix things with. For nothing.

“Quavo lost his nephew. For nothing. Rap lost a good one. For nothing. All this bloodshed. For nothing. It’ll never make sense. Never ever. Rest in Peace. Prayers to the family of the fallen.”

Bernice King wrote: “#Takeoff, I mourn that such frivolous violence has ended your life.

“My heart goes out to Takeoff’s family and to all who are devastated by his death. We have a lot of work to do in transforming the culture of violence into a culture of community awareness and care.”

Twitch streamer Adin also wrote: “Rest in peace to Takeoff I just spoke to him too…

“I’m in shock right now, I can’t believe it. I pray to god it’s fake. This shit just isn’t fair bro wtf.”

The shooting reportedly took place outside a bowling alley in Houston, as per AP.

Police responded to a call reporting the shooting on November 1 at around 2:30 a.m. at 810 Billiards & Bowling.

According to police, a body was found dead on the third floor of the bowling alley balcony upon their arrival.

The body was later identified as Takeoff.

Before Takeoff’s death, a video of the shooting was shared on social media.

It was here that fans began to speculate that the rapper had been shot.

Internet sleuths picked up on photos Takeoff posted that same night…

And matched up his clothing with the body that appeared in the video.

His death was later confirmed by a representative of the musician.

He was believed to be his attorney Drew Findling.

“I am devastated by the tragic death of Kirshnik Ball, known to his fans as Takeoff,” he said.

  via Getty Images

“Takeoff was not only a brilliant musical artist with unlimited talent but also a uniquely kind and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed now and always.”

Since then, a video just minutes before the shooting did the rounds on social media.

It showed moments before the shooting took place and was obtained by TMZ.

In the clip, a man believed to be Quavo can be heard arguing with someone in a large group, calling them “disrespectful.”

He can also be heard saying “basketball” and “I don’t get down like that!”

Just seconds later, the shooting starts before the video ends.

During a press conference held yesterday by Houston Police, which was live-streamed on Twitter and Facebook, it was confirmed that potential suspects of the shooting were present at the same private party as the Migos member.

No information on the suspects has been released, nor there have been any arrests, and it couldn’t be speculated if Takeoff was the intended target.

Chief Troy Finner said investigators did not have any reason to believe Takeoff was involved in anything criminal at the time.

“Even if we have a face, the best thing is if somebody could stand up, because somebody knows exactly who it was, and I am really confident somebody is going to step up,” Chief Finner said.

According to UNILAD, it is estimated around forty people witnessed the shooting.

And the 2 other attendees who were shot were a twenty-three-year-old male and a twenty-four-year-old female, who were then taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Chief Finner was also unable to confirm if Takeoff had been hit in a shooting crossfire.

Since his tragic passing, Takeoff’s final Instagram post left fans even more heartbroken.

Prior to his death, during rounds to promote his latest project, his final message has a lot more emotional meaning behind it today.

As the Revolt TV host praised the twenty-eight-year-old for his amazing artwork as a rapper…

In response, Takeoff said: “It’s time to give me my flowers, you know what I mean? I don’t want them later on when I’m not here.”

Takeoff’s 2 most recent Instagram posts were promotions for his latest album, Only Built For Infinity Links.

And now, an official cause of death has been revealed…

The medical examiner’s office in Houston gave the heartbreaking report on Wednesday.

But before it was released, Takeoff’s record label shared its own statement on Tuesday night with more information…

“It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we mourn the loss of our beloved brother Kirsnick Khari Ball, known to the world as Takeoff,” Quality Control wrote.

“Senseless violence and a stray bullet has taken another life from this world and we are devastated.”

The official report states that the rapper died of “penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into the arm.”

His death is also being ruled a homicide.

Rest in peace, Takeoff.
