In a move this morning that none of us were expecting, Vice President Mike Pence has sat down and received the COVID-19 vaccine live on television.

This comes just after President Trump declined to be the face of the U.S vaccine drive.

Now, pharmaceutical organizations from all around the world have been working tirelessly to discover a vaccine for months...

But, to begin with, they didn't have much luck.

However, some amazing news was brought to us a couple of weeks ago.

American multinational pharmaceutical corporation, Pfizer and German biotechnology company, BioNTech have been working on a coronavirus vaccine for the last few months, and now, it's finally ready.

The vaccine underwent its phase 3 study...

Which has enrolled 44,000 people in the U.S and in 5 other countries.

And as for the results?

Well, they were looking that good that some countries have started distributing the COVID vaccine out to their citizens a few weeks ago.

Hundreds of thousands of people from all around the world have been waiting their turn to get the jab...

And countries such as the United Kingdom have wasted absolutely no time in administering the vaccine, with the first of 800,000 doses having been given at the start of last week.

However, despite this exciting news...

There are many people who still don't trust the vaccine.

Fear and speculation surrounding the alleged "cure for COVID" have been rife...

And, when it was reported that some recipients had experienced an allergic reaction to the vaccine, the conspiracy theories began flooding in.

For the past week, the internet has been a COVID vaccine minefield...

With the words "zombies", "infertility," and "microchips" cropping up way too often.

So, in a bid to combat the fear and conspiracy theories...

A number of the top names in congress and the White House have promised to receive the vaccine in front of an audience in an attempt to debunk any fears.

Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton announced earlier this month their intentions to get vaccinated on television...

In an attempt to bolster trust and confidence in the shots among Americans.

But today, one man has beaten them to it...

Yep, in a move none of us were expecting, the vice president sat down and received the vaccine live on TV.

Along with his wife, Karen, and U.S. surgeon general Jerome Adams, he was inoculated with the first dose of the 2-shot vaccine at 8 a.m. in the Eisenhower Executive Office building in Washington, DC.

However, quite predictably, opinions on his move are mixed.

Where over eight-thousand people tuned in to watch. "I didn't feel a thing," Pence said once the injection had been administered, adding that the vaccine was "safe and effective."
