Nothing is more awkward than dating someone and realizing you've been pronouncing their name wrong. Well that's what happened to one man and the story is as awkward as it sounds...
We know that dating is extremely difficult nowadays.Screaming Internally First Date GIF by Originals Giphy
You can't seem to find a decent person anywhere. And meeting someone organically seems almost impossible.
It seems like the best place to look is the dreaded dating apps.bored tinder GIF by SoulPancake Giphy
We've all scrolled aimlessly through the never-ending stream of (let's face it) trash people.
However when you do meet someone online, it's hard to know what they're really like.online dating GIF Giphy
It seems like they only exist in the digital realm, that is until you finally meet them.
And when you do meet them, how do you really know you have everything right?Confused Bear GIF Giphy
I mean, until that point they've just been a name on a screen.
Well one Reddit user made the internet giggle when he admitted something crazy...Oh God Reaction GIF Giphy
He claimed it happened to his best friend, but we're not so sure.
"In November, my best friend met this girl online, Elena. He has never had any sort of relationship before hence this is super exciting. They eventually also met up and got on really well."aubrey plaza tinder GIF by Ingrid Goes West Giphy
"He tells me about her and is super excited and everything and I am really happy for him."

"At some point I wanted to Facebook-Stalk her, so I went to his profile and looked for a girl on his friend list called Eleanor, because that's how he pronounced it, but couldn't find anyone, so I thought maybe she just doesn't have Facebook."
"Anyways, at some point I ask him for pictures of her, so he shows me her profile, the name is spelt Elena."Swipe Discover GIF by Debby Ryan Giphy
"I said oooh that's why I didn't find the profile, I was looking for an Eleanor, I would have pronounced this name like Alaina. (I am not a native English speaker, he and that girl are.) but he told me that it's pronounced Eleanor."

The Reddit user goes on to say that it was only when he met one of her best friends that he realised he had been pronouncing her name wrong for their whole relationship which was six months.

Somehow, she was unaware of his mistake as he had never said her name in front of her (how he did this, we're not sure).

"You were right all along… turns out neither one of us ever used her name when we met up. And I had the laugh flash of my life! Now she's also meeting some of his friends and he's frantically running around telling everyone the new pronunciation."

We don't know what's worse, that he got the name wrong or that he's not said her name in front of her for six months...
However that's not the worst we found... one family fell out when discussing the name of their newborn baby.Season 1 Baby GIF by Friends Giphy
And it is honestly as crazy as it sounds...
One woman started a family feud after naming her newborn the exact same name her sister had picked out for her child.

A woman stole her sister's long-planned baby name.

Obviously her sibling is now furious.
Heres an idea, if you don't want anyone stealing your baby name, dont share it? 🤔— Anxious Princess 💕 (@Anxious Princess 💕)1570994222.0
Pretty awkward, right? Turns out it happens more often than you'd think. And it gets worse...
The woman explained that she picked out a first and middle name for her future daughter way before planning to have kids. Both of the names were very meaningful to her.
The first name was a tribute to a childhood friend who died. And the middle name represented an important time in her life.
She decided to share the name with her sister.
Can someone explain to me why pregnant women like to keep their baby's name a secret? Do they think someone is goin… https://t.co/PXpYMD1JLF— Monique Currie (@Monique Currie)1534520022.0
The sister gave birth five months ago...
Mannn gone RT @KiSS_MYY_ASH word of advice : dont share your baby`s name with other pregnant friends— lay-lay (@lay-lay)1322877246.0
The woman said she was "a little annoyed" she decided to call her daughter that. But "wasn't going to let it stop me from using the name".
And since giving birth not too long ago, she stuck to her guns.Since both she and her sister have the same last names, the two girls have the same first, middle, and last names.
"Now she's annoyed I used the name too," she said. "She told me it was weird that I would use it.""I told her I wasn't going to change the name I had wanted for a long time, that had a deep meaning for me, just because she decided to use it after I told her the name." "She said as the first one to have a baby she got dibs. I told her to get over it and it was a name anyone could use."
She decided to go to Reddit for advice.
via: RedditAnd they supported her for sticking to the name she originally wanted.
Reddit went off...One commented on Reddit: "She's the a**hole on this. In fact she's a double the a**hole, once for using the name you told her, twice for giving you s*** and saying she named first so she had dibs."
It didn't stop there...
via: GettyA second said: "You chose it first and she knew that. If she didn't want it to be weird and she knew that’s the name you would go with, she shouldn't have used it."
Everyone was on her side.Another added: "Who the hell calls 'dibs' on a name they stole from someone else??"
Clearly her sister was the one to blame.
