Correia had a promising future ahead of her, eager to make positive changes to the world she grew up in.

Taking to her Instagram last year, which is now controlled by her family, she wrote: “I wish a lot of things were different around here. I wish my brothers were perfect. I would like to be perfect. But we are not.

“The only way I can change Brazil/the world is by doing my part, and I have dedicated myself to that. May the Lord enable me to do more than enough! Congratulations Brazil! Even with so many flaws, it remains a good country to live in!”

Correia, who grew up in poverty, began her first job at the age of 8 years old as a manicurist, and was heavily into beauty, becoming a model after she won Miss Brazil, too.

In a recent post after her death, a picture with Correia hugging Christ was posted to her account. A caption read: “I fought the good fight, I finished the race, I kept the faith.”

We cannot imagine how Correia’s family and friends are feeling right now.
