Another day, another fictional character being canceled! And this time, it's The Muppets' very own Miss Piggy...
Because following the axing of the controversial Looney Tunes skunk, Pepe Le Pew, people have been calling for Miss Piggy to be next.
Yikes.
Read on to find out why people want the iconic glamorous pig to be gone for good...
Now, the so-called cancel-culture has been dominating the virtual world as of late.
Traditionally, the term "canceled" means to "dismiss something", or to "reject an individual or an idea", as per Dictionary. But, in the last year or so, the act of "canceling" has taken on a whole new meaning entirely.
Celebrities and public figures are the most common targets of this new cancel-culture.
In June last year, the author shared a link to an article titled: "Opinion: Creating a more equal post-COVID-19 world for people who menstruate."
‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? W… https://t.co/JEQbzYBS9O— J.K. Rowling (@J.K. Rowling)1591479351.0
She then commented:
"'People who menstruate'. I'm sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?"
The backlash was astounding...
And, almost instantly, the internet was alight with allegations of transphobia and even some calls for Rowling and the Harry Potter franchise to be canceled and boycotted entirely.
Another high-profile figure to face the wrath of cancel culture recently was Ivanka Trump.
Obviously, Ivanka was furious with the decision...
Our nation’s campuses should be bastions of free speech. Cancel culture and viewpoint discrimination are antithetic… https://t.co/OFe9lZwV5Y— Ivanka Trump (@Ivanka Trump)1591398793.0
And blasted both the university and cancel-culture, pointing out that "campuses should be bastions of free speech."
So, as you can see from these examples alone...

In recent months, more and more people have been speaking out against cancel culture...
I hate this cancel culture. It’s bullying.— Debbie Larry-Izamoje (@Debbie Larry-Izamoje)1609788525.0
But this hasn't stopped it's wrath...
And even fictional characters aren't safe from as today's story certainly proves.
Miss Piggy, one of the most iconic characters in The Muppets, is up for debate over whether she should be canceled or not...
And it's all been triggered by the controversial Looney Tunes skunk, Pepe Le Pew, being axed by Warner Bro's.
We could cancel Miss Piggy for domestic violence

Ayo if Pepe LePew is cancelled Make sure they get Miss Piggy right along with em!

Never thought I'd see the day when Pepe Le Pew would get cancelled. Can't wait to see Miss Piggy cancelled for physical and emotional abuse toward Kermit. She's been karate chopping him since the 70's, poor little bastard. pic.twitter.com/A6BLDjmU0P

Miss Piggy should be the next one “cancelled”. She would not leave poor Kermit the Frog alone! He repeatedly told her no. SMH. pic.twitter.com/FPMNGly7wM

CANCEL MISS PIGGY AS WELL THEN! She is the female version of Pepe....... What's good for the geese is good for the gander no?

Cancel Miss Piggy also, for abusing and harassing Kermit Frog . He repeatedly rejected her but she kept advancing 🤷🏾♂️ also beat him up more than once.

Ok! I'm holding Miss Piggy accountable since we're going down this route. Exessive violence towards guests and a variety of Muppets PLUS various examples of sexual harassment toward Kermit the frog.
— DESPOP (Des Taylor) (@DESPOPART) March 9, 2021
Doesn't she beat Kermit? Which I feel delegitimises or even makes fun of men who are in abusive relationships with women
— Gr00v3nburg3 (@gr00v3nburg3) March 9, 2021
What about Miss Piggy? She does the same to Kermit just about, but from the female point of view. We need to get rid of Miss Piggy as well. We need to cancel all cartoons from back in the day cause they all don’t fit in today’s society. We are all screwed up from watching these

Warner Bro's recently came to the decision to cancel the French Looney Tunes skunk, Pepe Le Pew.
RW blogs are mad bc I said Pepe Le Pew added to rape culture. Let’s see.

1. He grabs/kisses a girl/stranger, repeatedly, w/o consent and against her will.
2. She struggles mightily to get away from him, but he won’t release her
3. He locks a door to prevent her from escaping. pic.twitter.com/CbLCldLwvR
The controversial skunk has been completely cut out of the upcoming sequel Space Jam: A New Legacy following resurfaced cartoons showing him forcing himself upon female characters and ignoring them as they said "no."
It's all very uncomfortable to watch back...

And many have branded the skunk as an "offender" who has been promoting a very dangerous image over the last few decades.
So, how does this involve Miss Piggy?
Well, after rewatching cartoons that include Pepe, people have recognized some scarily similar characteristics between Pepe and Miss Piggy when it comes to treating their partners.
Many feel Miss Piggy represents the image of a domestic abuser...
And the way she constantly forces herself upon Kermit doesn't sit well with lots of viewers.
Do you think it's time for Miss Piggy to be axed from our screens?
Or do you think she simply represents the harmless fun that cartoons are known for bringing?
