There’s not a day that goes by when parents aren’t criticized for at least one thing that someone feels is wrong, most of the time it’s down to contrasting parenting techniques…
But among all the parenting taboos out there, the debate as to what age you should stop bathing with your kids still rages on.
And one mom has shocked the internet after revealing what she does with her teen daughter…
Whether you’re a more authoritarian parent, an authoritative parent, or a permissive parent, there will always be someone who doesn’t quite agree with how you’re bringing up your child.
All moms will agree that they are simply trying their best, and the scrutiny of others certainly isn’t helping.
If they let their children occasionally share a bed with them, they are labeled as over-protective and needy… But if they make their children sleep in their own beds every night? They are slammed for not being affectionate enough.
And, if the children are happy and healthy, who are we to criticize how they are brought up?
But there are some things that are criticized a little more than others.
Among all the parenting taboos out there, the debate as to what age you should stop bathing with your kids still rages on.
What about if your child was now a teen?
Although one mom thinks “it’s the best way to start the day,” which has raised more than a few eyebrows…
The new TLC series sMothered, has left viewers baffled after mom Mary and her teen daughter Brittani, from Florida, have opened up about their extremely close relationship…
Mary admits that they’ve been doing it for years, saying: “I have been taking showers and helping Brittani since she was five.”
Now, 5 is a little more understandable, but where do you draw the line?
Their interactions seem far from normal, as she steps into the shower, Mary can be heard telling her daughter to “move it over, baby,” before saying: “Ah, that feels so good.”
Yep, pretty strange…
Mary then starts to wash the teen, telling her: “You need to tan or something, honey. You’re so white.”
Adding: “The best way to start our day is in the shower.”
Mary says she doesn’t agree with the people who clearly have a problem with their quirky habit.
She says: “I love her, and I don’t see anything wrong with it. I don’t believe I set out to have a relationship this close to Brittani, it’s something that was supposed to be.”
Adding: “When my mom does simple things like washing my hair or my body, it makes me feel comforted.”
She joked: “Plus, I’m only 19, I haven’t moved away. If that was the case, she would probably die from separation anxiety.”
Which they believe were brought on by the hot water.
She said: “That’s kind of how I started getting in the shower with her, just to comfort her because she would freak out. That grew into an every-other-day thing. When she was smaller, it was every day.”
More specifically, he thinks it’s time for Brittani to move out of the house.
She said: “It has caused some issues in my relationship, but he’s got to accept it. That’s how it is. He knows I love him, but I love my daughter more – she’s my life.”
Surely there needs to be some boundaries here? Just me?
