Mom Keeps Husband Awake in the Delivery Room Using Nerf Gun

Giving birth – it isn’t the most comfortable of situations, is it?

For the moms… well, it’s kind of obvious. Sitting through hours (and sometimes days, for the unfortunate ones…) of agonizing contractions, to having to push out a watermelon-sized baby from your nether-regions will never be a walk in the park.

As for the dads? Needless to say, they have it pretty easy in comparison. They can sit back, relax, and wait for their new baby to enter the world, with absolutely no pain or suffering. All they need to do is stay awake. Sounds relatively straight forward, right?

One woman has shared the lengths she went to in order to keep her husband awake.

Welcoming a little one into the world is a life-changing moment for new parents, to say the least.

The whole experience is a magical one for the mom and dad to share together as a couple.

Whether it be foot massages, back-rubs, an endless supply of snacks, or just telling them how great they look, there’s an array of things that dads can do to make the labor just that little bit easier.

Cracking a joke is always an ice-breaker, right? Things can get heated during labor (obviously), so a few funny one-liners may diffuse the tension a little bit.

No matter how tired you are, you can’t be any more tired than a woman trying to push a human out of her for hours even days at a time.

An unspoken rule is to not let yourself fall asleep when your wife is in the process of squeezing out a baby. Well, one woman has the answer.

Her post in December shows what she came up with to ensure her husband wouldn’t fall asleep.

The pictures showed her recovering in the hospital after giving birth.

This one was different…

Samantha had taken a picture of the nerf gun she had packed in her bag…

Her plan was to shoot her husband with the nerf gun if he started to drift off while they were with their new baby.

“Mom hack level 1,0000 Worried about the nights in the hospital with your newborn & dad sleeping? Well… then don’t forget one of these in your hospital bag. ?” She put below the picture.

She told Romper: “I packed it because when my five-year-old was born my husband slept through him crying in the hospital …  I figured this way I would have better aim.”

If you’re expecting in the future, and you want to make sure your partner is fully awake, take along your nerf gun!

The comment section is filled with stories of the same thing happening to other moms.

One woman said, “I threw 2 shoes at my husband to get him to wake up.”

“First night at the hospital after a c section and I couldn’t get out of bed easily.”

She promises this will be her next tactic, before reminding him of what happened. “I needed this for when you were sleeping, and I couldn’t get up cause of the scar.”

Don’t get me wrong, being a supportive partner can be draining too. You’ll be filled with all different kinds of emotion, which is totally acceptable. Just don’t go to sleep!

I’m sure a nerf gun will be the next essential on anyone’s hospital bag list.
