Mom Keeps Husband Awake in the Delivery Room Using Nerf Gun | 22 Words

Giving birth - it isn't the most comfortable of situations, is it?

For the moms... well, it's kind of obvious. Sitting through hours (and sometimes days, for the unfortunate ones...) of agonizing contractions, to having to push out a watermelon-sized baby from your nether-regions will never be a walk in the park.

As for the dads? Needless to say, they have it pretty easy in comparison. They can sit back, relax, and wait for their new baby to enter the world, with absolutely no pain or suffering. All they need to do is stay awake. Sounds relatively straight forward, right?

Wrong.

One woman has shared the lengths she went to in order to keep her husband awake.

Giving birth is a momentous occasion.

Welcoming a little one into the world is a life-changing moment for new parents, to say the least.

It can be a significant bonding experience for the parents.

The whole experience is a magical one for the mom and dad to share together as a couple.

Dads are often left in charge of comforting and supporting the mom through her labor.

Whether it be foot massages, back-rubs, an endless supply of snacks, or just telling them how great they look, there's an array of things that dads can do to make the labor just that little bit easier.

Some dads use comedy to break the tension.

Cracking a joke is always an ice-breaker, right? Things can get heated during labor (obviously), so a few funny one-liners may diffuse the tension a little bit.

One thing to bear in mind though - sleeping on the job is a big no-no.

No matter how tired you are, you can't be any more tired than a woman trying to push a human out of her for hours even days at a time.

There's a time and a place for having a power nap.

An unspoken rule is to not let yourself fall asleep when your wife is in the process of squeezing out a baby. Well, one woman has the answer.

One woman on Facebook has gone viral for her genius hack.

Her post in December shows what she came up with to ensure her husband wouldn't fall asleep.

Samantha Mravik-Miller shared a post on Facebook in December.

The pictures showed her recovering in the hospital after giving birth.

Although Samantha posted a lot of pictures of her baby...

This one was different...

Instead of posting a nice family picture with the new arrival,

Samantha had taken a picture of the nerf gun she had packed in her bag...

Why?

Her plan was to shoot her husband with the nerf gun if he started to drift off while they were with their new baby.

Her caption was the best.

"Mom hack level 1,0000 Worried about the nights in the hospital with your newborn & dad sleeping? Well... then don’t forget one of these in your hospital bag. 🤣" She put below the picture.

Samantha was later interviewed on this strange addition to her bag.

She told Romper: "I packed it because when my five-year-old was born my husband slept through him crying in the hospital ...  I figured this way I would have better aim."

So, there you have it...

If you're expecting in the future, and you want to make sure your partner is fully awake, take along your nerf gun!

The photo resonated with a surprising number of people.

The comment section is filled with stories of the same thing happening to other moms.

The struggle is real...

One woman said, "I threw 2 shoes at my husband to get him to wake up."

Another mom posts laughing emojis in the comments.

"First night at the hospital after a c section and I couldn't get out of bed easily."

One woman even tags her husband!

She promises this will be her next tactic, before reminding him of what happened. "I needed this for when you were sleeping, and I couldn't get up cause of the scar."

I think we can all agree that laboring a baby is hard work.

Don't get me wrong, being a supportive partner can be draining too. You'll be filled with all different kinds of emotion, which is totally acceptable. Just don't go to sleep!

If you're hard to wake up, be prepared.

I'm sure a nerf gun will be the next essential on anyone's hospital bag list.
