Mom Reportedly Jailed After Refusing To Leave Daughter’s Side at Hospital

One mom made the ultimate sacrifice this week, sparking a fierce debate online…

If your child was recovering from an invasive surgery, would you comply with hospital rules?

Lynn Savage, 70, from Jacksonville, Florida, decided she would not – and has faced huge consequences following her decision.

In fact, she was booked for trespassing and spent a night in jail for refusing to follow UF Health North’s COVID policy.

Savage’s daughter, Amber, had undergone brain surgery, and Savage was unwilling to leave her bedside.

“I could not in good conscience and good heart leave her bedside not knowing how she was going to make it through the night voluntarily,” she explained to Action News Jax

“I stand by my actions 100 percent. I am not sorry that I made them take me out of there in handcuffs,” she continued.

“Ms. Savage is a twenty-year retired Deputy with the Stark County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office. She stated she understood but would have to be removed by force,” the arrest statement read.

“Ms. Savage was cooperative, and I placed her under arrest. Once escorted outside the hospital, I pleaded for Ms. Savage to come to reason, leave and return in the morning when visitation opened at 0900 hours. She refused for the principle that if something happens to her daughter Amber, she was forced to leave her side.”

Many believed Savage was correct in her actions. “So many people need family and friends to advocate for them…glad she was there for her daughter,” wrote one Facebook commenter.

“That is so sad. She just wanted to stay by her daughter. What mother wouldn’t. It helps people recover to have close family present. There a no reason to physically remove this mom due to usual protocol. This was not a usual situation!” another agreed.
What do you think of Savage’s actions?
