They're cute, they're funny, they're entertaining... You get the gist. But, every now and again...

A youngster will receive viral attention for all the wrong reasons.Despite their purity and their innocence...

There are plenty of people online who will happily tear a baby to shreds, all for the way he or she looks. It's barbaric, I know. And this week, these people have a new victim in their sights...
Que: The giant baby.It all started with a TikTok video.

TikTok user, kat.027 shared a video, which has now had over sixteen million views, of her son playing with his dad... But it was quick to go viral for all the wrong reasons. The baby, who is admittedly very large, is seen giggling and laughing while sitting on his dad's back...

And he repeatedly bounces up and down, as most youngsters do.And, as he bounces...

The baby powder from his diaper can be seen flying into the air, which only makes him giggle even harder.Cute, right?
That is one giant baby.

It's needless to say that people are completely traumatized by the giant baby.

And others went as far as to compare him to an actual monster.
Okay, that's taking it a bit far, isn't it?Twitter users are seriously creeped out...
And no one can quite put their finger on what it is. Is it his long arms? His large torso? His devilish grin as he jumps up and down on the lifeless body? We may never know. And it didn't take long for other videos of the giant baby to emerge...

Bur not all the comments have been so negative.
Some people have been jumping to the child's defense by reminding social media users that whoever trolls a baby needs to take a long, hard look at themselves. And now, the child's mom has spoken out...

And she has slammed all those who have "bullied" her son.Giant baby is actually called Gavin.
via: TikTok
And, according to his mom, Kathryn, he is "a healthy 3-year-old." Okay, so he is a toddler, not a baby. That explains a few things...And, to explain things even further, it turns out that Gavin comes from a "tall family"...
via: TikTok
Which would explain his size. When responding to a comment on the video, Kathryn explained that "we have tall boys in the family," and that "the Drs are predicting he's going to be at least 6'3."But Kathryn didn't ever intend for her son to go viral.

Speaking to Insider, Kathryn said that she had only just downloaded TikTok for the first time last week, and that she had never dreamed that the video would get the reaction it did.But she has begged people to stop trolling her son.

"There's no need to have this distasteful bitterness that a lot of people have."Thankfully, Gavin is too young to understand the dark side of the internet.
