A mom has sparked a huge debate online over parenting rules such as asking her son for consent to change his diaper.
Mom of one, Corrie has sparked a huge debate surrounding her parenting methods after she posted a video to TikTok.
In the video, which has more than more than 1 million views, Corrie lists several rules that she goes by when parenting her son.
Corrie writes on the video: “Rules I have for my toddler that make people upset.”
She begins by explaining that her son “doesn’t have alone time with anyone that doesn’t respect our rules and boundaries including grandparents.”
Corrie then said that she considers her son to be “sugar-free.”
“I consider my son sugar-free. I give him sugar because I can limit the amount he has, but as a general rule, no one else is allowed to give him sugar,” she said while showing herself chopping up fruit.
Corrie said that another rule “which causes a lot of tension” is that her son “never has to share anthing.”
For example, if her son is taking a toy over to his grandparents house, he doesn’t not have to share it with his cousin.
That is a rule that “extends to the playground and other situations.”
Listing the third rule, Corrie says that “consent is a big thing.”
“It’s not like people can’t hug and kiss my son, but ask him first,” she said. “He knows the difference between yes and no.”
She even said that she asks for her sons consent before changing his diaper.
And her final rule is that she limits her son’s screen time.
Corrie says that her son is only young and he “doesn’t need to be watching TV all day.”
