Spiritual healer and mom, Margo, fell pregnant at the same time as her surrogate sister after spending more than $37,000 on IVF. And it comes as Margo and her husband, Ian, suffered a heartbreaking journey to get here together.
Margo and Ian had suffered several losses before being gifted a miracle. Unfortunately, the doctors did not know why Margo kept experiencing pregnancy loss, which made it a lot more difficult for them both.
“After meeting Ian, we sadly suffered seven losses before our double rainbow babies. We experienced five losses before getting pregnant with our son Olivier, who was sadly stillborn at 41 weeks,” she said, according to Metro.
“We had one more miscarriage after that before deciding to call it quits. The doctors could not give me a reason why the pregnancy losses kept occurring. It was absolutely devastating,” she said.
When the couple told Margo’s family about their first loss, Meena, who was taken in by Margo’s parents as a teenage girl, had formed a strong sisterly bond with Margo and wanted to offer an incredible gift after hearing about her sister’s struggle with pregnancy.
Meena offered to be a surrogate after Margo and Ian told the family that they had yet again tragically suffered a loss.
“After Olivier passed away, I wanted to suggest that they get a surrogate, but it was too soon to talk about that,” Meena said.
“At the time I thought maybe I should be their surrogate. I knew it would be amazing, and I really wanted to do it for them,” she continued. And so, Meena offered to carry their child for them, helping the couple in their journey to becoming parents.
“I was totally blown away and left speechless. I burst into tears and just hugged her. It was such a selfless and courageous act, we will be eternally grateful to her,” Margo said.
And we’ve all heard that sometimes not so comforting “everything happens for a reason” phrase one too many times during our lives. But, hearing this story, it really does feel like this was supposed to be Margo and Ian’s path. Because, after spending over $37,000 on IVF treatment, the couple fell pregnant at the same time Meena did.
“Somehow, I got pregnant at the same time as Meena. We never imagined this would be possible,” Margo explained.
“Before all this happened, I actually had a dream that Margo and I stood by the Christmas tree with our pregnant bellies. Then Margo called me up and told me my dream came true. She was pregnant too,” Meena recalled.
And now, after an extremely long emotional journey, the couple have a boy and a girl, called Austin and Sofia.
“Austin is very chilled out, relaxed, and mellow, while Sofia is very alert, active, and social. They get along really well and are the best of friends. It’s been such an incredible journey, and we couldn’t be happier with our little ones,” Margo said.
“Ian and I had always wanted to have children, and so it feels like all our dreams had come true.”
