Morgan Freeman has hit headlines after a heartbreaking health shock.
“Sending thoughts and prayers Mr.Freeman,” wrote one fan.
“Speedy recovery,” prayed another.
Who doesn’t know Morgan Freeman?
Not only has he starred in modern classics such as The Shawshank Redemption, but he also has the coolest voice in Hollywood history.
He’s a kind and wise man, something that he continues to make evident through his amazing acts in helping to preserve the planet and its wildlife.
Recently, the eighty-five-year-old actor decided to add another title to his resume: Beekeeper.
Yes, Morgan Freeman has decided to dedicate his spare time to keeping and protecting bees.
Just wait until you hear about the project…
It’s safe to say Morgan Freeman is a Hollywood legend…
Freeman has managed to remain one of the most recognized and distinguished actors in the film industry.
But that’s not all!
At over eighty years old, the actor has now decided that it’s time to pick up a new hobby and become a beekeeper.
It’s been a longheld passion …
Freeman first mentioned beekeeping in 2014 during an interview on The Jimmy Fallon Show.
Before appearing on the show, the actor had only been keeping bees for a few weeks, but he still had plenty to discuss.
Freeman not only spoke about the process of caring for bees, he also spoke about the importance of keeping these creatures around.
During the interview, Freeman opened up about his incentive to become a beekeeper.
And the main reason that he decided to take up this new hobby may shock you.
It’s all about saving the world!
“There is a concerted effort for bringing bees back onto the planet,” Freeman said.
“We do not realize that they are the foundation, I think, of the growth of the planet, the vegetation,” he explained.
Since then Freeman has transported more than twenty-six beehives from Arkansas to his ranch and home located in Mississippi.
Often, when beekeeping, the keeper is expected to wear protective clothing and gear.
But apparently, the actor doesn’t wear protective clothing. Instead, he just wears his normal clothes!
And he has yet to be stung…
Amazingly, Freeman hasn’t been stung by one of his bees yet, but there may be a reason for this.
He just doesn’t bother them!
Instead of keeping bees for their honey as most do, Freeman simply wants to keep them safe, protected, and well-nourished.
He happily feeds them himself with sugar and water.
Is it weird to be kind of jealous of a bee?
Beyond the colonies and sugar-water, Freeman has planted a plethora of bee-friendly flowers on his property.
And one single bee can pollinate more than 300 million flowers a day.
Without bees, humans would not have the majority of fruits, nuts, and vegetables we have today.
We should all thank Morgan Freeman for his hard work and wholesome intentions in trying to preserve such a beautiful species — and the planet, of course.
Recently, Freeman hit headlines for a different, heartbreaking reason.
He was spotted at the Oscars wearing a single glove on his left hand.
The internet was curious to discover the reason why…
And now they’ve found out, they’re feeling emotional.
“The poor guy!” wrote one.
“Ouch! This sounds so painful!” added another.
The reason Freeman has to wear a single glove is actually medical!
He must wear a compression glove on his left hand following a car accident in Mississippi in 2008.
The car actually slipped and Freeman had to be cut free from the vehicle by paramedics!
He suffered from multiple broken bones and spent hours in surgery having his left arm and hand put back in place.
The nerve damage in his arm continues to this day.
And he can’t move his left hand, causing it to swell up.
The compression glove is designed to minimize the swelling.
He reportedly told People magazine: “If you don’t move your hand, it will swell up.
“Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?”
Freeman has previously been spotted wearing his compression glove in public, too.
He was spotted wearing a glove at the World Cup and the SAG Awards in recent months.
And now, Freeman has been hit with another health shock.
The star had to cancel a press trip to the UK with his Special Ops: Lioness co-stars.
This was due to a “fever” and “contagious infection.”
His representative told MailOnline: “Morgan has a fever and his doctor felt he had a contagious infection, so he canceled his trip.”
“He is fine now.”
We hope he’s feeling better!
