He’s hit out at the tributes …
Sinead O’Connor, born on December 8, 1966, in Glenageary, Dublin, Ireland, was a prolific singer-songwriter and a powerful voice in the music industry.

Known for her mesmerizing vocals, uncompromising spirit, and passionate activism, O’Connor has left an indelible mark on the world of music and beyond.
Through her music and fearless advocacy, she has challenged societal norms, fought for justice, and inspired countless individuals to find their own voice.

And yesterday, her tragic death was announced.
Sinead Marie Bernadette O’Connor grew up in a turbulent household, facing hardship from an early age.

Her parents divorced when she was young, and her childhood was marked by difficult relationships with her family members. Despite these challenges, O’Connor found solace in music and began singing at a young age.
Her deep, soulful voice and emotional delivery quickly gained attention.

In her late teens, O’Connor pursued her musical dreams and joined the band Ton Ton Macoute, but it was her solo career that would soon take flight.
In 1987, she released her debut album, “The Lion and the Cobra,” which showcased her unique blend of soul, folk, and rock, receiving critical acclaim and earning her widespread recognition.

While her initial albums helped establish O’Connor as an artist to watch, it was her rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U” in 1990 that catapulted her to global stardom.
The song, written by Prince, struck a chord with audiences worldwide and became an anthem of heartbreak and longing.

The iconic music video, featuring O’Connor’s tearful face, further solidified her position as a powerful and emotionally resonant performer.
But Sinead O’Connor’s career was not just about music; she used her fame as a platform to speak out on issues close to her heart.

Unafraid to tackle controversial subjects, she was a vocal advocate for women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and the abolition of child abuse, often addressing these themes in her music.
One of the most defining moments of her career came in 1992 when she tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II during a live performance on “Saturday Night Live.”

The act was intended as a protest against the Catholic Church’s handling of sexual abuse scandals, but it sparked intense backlash and controversy. Many criticized her actions, while others praised her courage in speaking out against injustice.
Throughout her life, Sinead O’Connor battled personal struggles with mental health issues, including bipolar disorder.

Her openness about her challenges endeared her to fans who appreciated her honesty and vulnerability. Despite facing setbacks, she continued to produce music that resonated with listeners on a deeply emotional level.
Sinead O’Connor’s impact on the music industry and social consciousness cannot be overstated.

Her powerful voice and emotive performances inspired countless artists across various genres. She fearlessly used her platform to fight for social justice and to challenge the status quo, becoming a symbol of resistance against oppression.
And yesterday, Sinead O’Connor’s family confirmed her passing at the age of 56, leaving her fans devastated.

The world mourns the loss of a talented artist, an influential voice, and a compassionate mother. Sinead O’Connor’s legacy will live on through her music, her courage, and her dedication to breaking down barriers and speaking her truth.

Sinead O’Connor

The Irish singer and activist has tragically died aged 56, her family has confirmed.
In what is believed to be her last video before her death, Sinead emotionally discussed the toll her teenage son’s suicide had taken on her.

The poignant footage, posted on July 9, showed the singer speaking candidly to her fans from inside her apartment.
In the video, she revealed the profound impact of her son Shane’s tragic passing, stating that it had taken a significant toll on her both physically and mentally. Despite her grief, Sinead bravely shared her emotions with her followers.

Shane, aged 17, tragically took his own life in January 2022 while on suicide watch after escaping from the hospital. His death had a profound impact on Sinead, leaving her heartbroken and struggling with her mental health.
She captioned the video: “Hey, some folks been asking I make a video to prove identity… Now, I’ve been up all night listening to Hindu Aestheticism books on YouTube.”

This video was possibly the last glimpse of Sinead O’Connor before her untimely passing at 56.
On July 17, her last ever tweet featured a picture of her son Shane, accompanied by a poignant caption: “Been living as an undead night creature since… He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.”

Throughout her last days, Sinead O’Connor also shared Spotify links to several heart-breaking songs, including one dedicated to “all mothers of Suicided children,” reflecting her grief and sorrow.
However, Morrisey has criticized those mourning O’Connor’s death.

“She had only so much ‘self’ to give. She was dropped by her label after selling 7 million albums for them. She became crazed, yes, but uninteresting, never. She had done nothing wrong. She had proud vulnerability … and there is a certain music industry hatred for singers who don’t ‘fit in’ (this I know only too well), and they are never praised until death – when, finally, they can’t answer back,” he wrote on his website.
“The cruel playpen of fame gushes with praise for Sinead today … with the usual moronic labels of “icon” and “legend”. You praise her now ONLY because it is too late.”

“You hadn’t the guts to support her when she was alive and she was looking for you. The press will label artists as pests because of what they withhold … and they would call Sinead sad, fat, shocking, insane … oh but not today!”
“Music CEOs who had put on their most charming smile as they refused her for their roster are queuing-up to call her a “feminist icon”, and 15 minute celebrities and goblins from hell and record labels of artificially aroused diversity are squeezing onto Twitter to twitter their jibber-jabber … when it was YOU who talked Sinead into giving up … because she refused to be labelled, and she was degraded, as those few who move the world are always degraded.”

“Why is ANYBODY surprised that Sinead O’Connor is dead? Who cared enough to save Judy Garland, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Marilyn Monroe, Billie Holiday?”
“Where do you go when death can be the best outcome? Was this music madness worth Sinead’s life? No, it wasn’t. She was a challenge, and she couldn’t be boxed-up, and she had the courage to speak when everyone else stayed safely silent.”

“She was harassed simply for being herself. Her eyes finally closed in search of a soul she could call her own. As always, the lamestreamers miss the ringing point, and with locked jaws they return to the insultingly stupid “icon” and “legend” when last week words far more cruel and dismissive would have done.”
“Tomorrow the fawning fops flip back to their online shitposts and their cosy Cancer Culture and their moral superiority and their obituaries of parroted vomit … all of which will catch you lying on days like today … when Sinead doesn’t need your sterile slop.”

What do you think of this divisive rant?
Our thoughts go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest in peace.
