And no longer is it as stigmatized as it was a few decades ago when women were literally shamed for breastfeeding their child in public.

Totally shocking, we know...

But thankfully today in 2021, breastfeeding is now embraced and celebrated rather than shunted.

It is one of the most intimate acts between a mother and her child...

And it is also a beautiful bonding process.

Of course, breastfeeding is something exclusive to the mom only...

And as many moms can agree, it's an extremely personal and private thing to do... meaning when another woman wants to get involved, it's an utter nightmare.

Well, this is exactly what happened to one horrified mom recently.

Taking to Reddit, the anonymous mom explained that her seventy-year-old mother-in-law wanted to help with the breastfeeding... and it's gotten people seriously talking.

Writing on Reddit, the mom explained that her husband's seventy-year-old mom asked her if she could breastfeed her child ahead of the birth of another grandchild.

"This seventy-year-old woman plans to breastfeed [my] sister-in-law's first baby that's due in 6 weeks," the woman explained, as per The Sun.

"She read that grandmas help breastfeed babies in some cultures and wants to give it a go. Now that she's got this idea that she's going to breastfeed 'her grandbaby', she's started to come for me saying that she doesn't want a stronger bond with one baby more than the other (my youngest baby is 2 months old)."

"And since he's already here, she wants to start 'practicing' breastfeeding with my baby. I can't even."

The worried mom then explained that her mother-in-law dreams of being able to breastfeed the 2 babies at the same time.

"In hopes it goes well and then she can breastfeed both my baby and [my] sister-in-law's baby. She says she wants to breastfeed them at the same time … like her eyes gloss over as if it's some dream of her to tandem feed them."

So strange, we know!

"This woman is a special kind of delusional. Can women that age really even re-lactate?" the mom pondered.

She then explained that she had her husband talk to his mother and explain that it was not going to happen, but the fallout has caused even more awkwardness.

"Of course, this all falls onto me in her eyes - she's mad saying I'm standing in the way of her having a closer bond with her grandbabies."

"Even though my [husband] was equally grossed out! I told her to go talk to her doctor and find a lactation consultant if it's that important to her, but that she will never ever breastfeed any of my babies no matter what."

What do you think?

Do you think it's totally inappropriate of the mother-in-law to ask to breastfeed her grandchildren? Or do you think it's relatively harmless?
