“So, I have an announcement. We are in Greece filming My Big Fat Wedding 3 and thank you so much for the lovely messages of just waiting and everything,” she said. Adding: “We’re filming in the beautiful Plaka of Athens.”

Vardalos, along with Corbett were spotted filming a couple of scenes together in Rafina, just outside of Athens on Wednesday.

For those who don’t know, the original movie came out in 2002 and centered around a single Greek woman, Toula, who after constantly being pressured by her family to find a Greek man and settle down, ends up falling for an American.

Doubting their relationship at first, her parents finally grow to accept her choice, and a big fat greek wedding ensues. Opa!

The second movie came out in 2016, centering around Toula and Ian’s strained relationship, and their teenage daughter Paris. The family navigates a lot of pent-up emotions, similar to the first.

Deadline has revealed, that while it’s not yet been confirmed, sources have hinted the new movie will center around Paris and her wedding, being set mostly in Greece, rather than America.

There is no update on when the movie is scheduled for release, but it has been announced that it will be dedicated to Michael Constantine.

Constantine famously played Kostas “Gus” Portokalos, the father to Vardalos’ character, Toula Portokalos. He sadly died last August aged 94.
