Although it's not yet officially confirmed if the nail was used in the crucifixion, scientists have said the discovery is "even greater than the reliquary of St. Maurus."

Which is a pretty big deal when it comes to Christian relics...

Considering the Maurus Reliquary is a gold box containing fragments of the bodies of Saint Maurus, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Timothy.

Speaking to Czech News Agency (ČTK), Jiří Šindelář, who took part in the discovery, said:

"Because the Hussites destroyed the archive, there was no information that such a thing was here."

Experts admitted the find could in fact be a nail from Jesus' crucifixion...

Considering the monastery was "one of the richest institutions in the Czech Republic."

Šindelář said the authenticity of the nail is currently being evaluated by others in the field.

The team who found the secret chamber said it was used by Hussites in the fifteenth century to hide other precious artifacts.
