During the current pandemic, the use of face masks has long been a debate. But it seems one group is taking things to the extreme... by setting up a national "no mask day."
And let's just say, the response has been huge. Keeps scrolling to take a look...
At this point, in 2020...News like this isn't even that shocking.
Over recent months, the world has been facing a very turbulent time.

With almost everywhere shutting down.

Though in the past few weeks, little bits of normality have been appearing again.

It really feels like we can start to see some light at the end of the tunnel...
via: Getty ImagesMonths in lockdown has certainly taken its toll on everyone's mental health.
But whilst things are getting back to normal, we must still take precautions.
via: Getty ImagesIt's common sense, right?
In fact, certain precautions are becoming mandatory in some places.
via: Getty ImagesIncluding here in the US.
In some states, it has become mandatory to wear a face mask on certain occasions.
via: Getty ImagesFor example in some retail stores like Costco, customers are required to wear one.
Some people are choosing to wear a face-covering regardless.
via: Getty ImagesTo provide them with that much-needed peace of mind.
But there are issues with face masks that many people have discovered.
via: Getty ImagesFor one - they are in short supply after most countries in the world are requiring PPE.
Meaning that many people are having to make their own.
via: Getty ImagesBoth for themselves and for essential workers, as they are still not being provided with sufficient amounts of PPE.
Not to mention...
via: Getty ImagesIf they aren't used correctly, they are said to be fairly ineffective. In fact, many people who are healthy are being told that they don’t even need to wear a mask unless they are around someone presenting symptoms. Seems like some major mixed-signals going on here.
But the other issue is that many people have discovered how uncomfortable face masks can be.
via: Getty ImagesParticularly when they are worn for a long period of time.
They can also make it hard to breathe whilst wearing.
via: Getty ImagesBut of course, the uncomfortable nature is a small price to pay for the safety they could provide.
But now, 2020 may have reached it's peak in terms of not making any sense. Why? Because there's a baffling event going around encouraging people to ditch their face masks, even in places where they are required to wear them.
The occasion has been dubbed as "National No Mask Day."And is said to be taking place on Saturday, June 20.
The event is being advertised as being held at “every store, every town, everywhere USA."Seems like a pretty weird flex to us.
There may have been some disagreements surrounding face masks...But something's telling us that "National No Mask Day" is definitely not the solution.
People have been taking to Twitter to air their views. All logic and rationality seems to have flown out the window.
People were furious with the sheer ignorance of the people willing to take part.
