The late Naya Rivera’s son, Josey, has just graduated pre-school!

Ryan Dorsey posted his son’s graduation ceremony on Instagram on Saturday, sharing a picture of Josey dressed in a cap and gown.

He captioned the photo: “Fresh outta Pre-K boy! Next Up Kindergarten! #summertime #proudDad.”
On his Instagram Story, he captioned one clip “Kindergarten here we come!” and another, “My Lil 2021 Pre-K grad.” Above the video of Josey retrieving his certificate, he wrote: “Big dreams! Proud Papa.”

Dorsey shared a photo of Glee actress Rivera, who died in July 2020 after accidentally drowning during a boat trip with Josey at Lake Piru.

Staff found the boat on the lake with Josey sleeping onboard, but couldn’t find any sign of Rivera.

The actress was later found on July 13th and an autopsy revealed Rivera had succumbed to accidental drowning.

Authorities later announced Rivera likely saved Josey by putting him back on board the boat before she died.

Rivera’s dad George said that Josey asks about his mom a lot.

He went on to praise Dorsey, and Naya’s sister, Nickayla Rivera, for their part in raising him.
“Nickayla and Ryan are doing a really great job,” George told Entertainment Tonight Wednesday, “Tough situation, especially because he was there. It’s not like you’re talking about a ghost that’s floating around, right? He’s got memories as well, but boy is he coming around, right? Really strong kid.”
“We handle him and we talk to him just like he’s a 5-year-old going on 6,” George added, “It’s no different but when he wants to talk about his mother, we talk about his mother, in conversation. He’s growing up and handling it really well.”

Dorsey, who was married to Rivera from 2014 to 2018, posted an Instagram tribute to Josey in January…

The actor wrote, “This little boy…man…I couldn’t be any prouder of someone. At such a young age, he’s endured more than anyone should at 5 years old.”
“Without even fully realizing it, he lives the #keeppounding mantra every day with his resilience [sic],” he continued, “You’re so strong, so brave, and so kind. I will always be proud of you and we will always #keeppounding b/c that’s all we can do.”
Congratulations, Josey!
