The coronavirus has brought the entire world to a standstill.
It has been spreading at an alarming rate since it was first discovered in China, and thousands of people all around the world have now died from the deadly virus.
Hundreds of thousands are currently infected with the virus and now, Rudy Gobert has tested positive for the virus just days after he jokingly touched all the mics at a press conference.
Keep scrolling to hear what Rudy has to say…
We are currently in the midst of a medical crisis…
Originating from the Chinese city of Wuhan, a deadly virus known as the coronavirus has been rapidly spreading across the globe.
Coronavirus infections have a wide range of symptoms, including fever, coughing, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. Severe cases can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and death.
A lot of people have now died from the virus…
It has been confirmed by Worldometer that 5,123 people have now died globally, with the majority being in mainland China.
A further 140,000 have been found to carry the virus and be infected.
The virus continues to rapidly spread, and traces of the disease have already been discovered and confirmed in 8 other countries including here in America, the U.K, Italy, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Japan.
The World Health Organization declared an emergency last month and called on all countries to take urgent measures to contain the respiratory disease.
What is it that’s causing this deadly virus?
But it is widely believed that the sale of meat from wild animals is the prime cause of the coronavirus.
Strains of the virus have been discovered in bats in the past and, with them being a delicacy in some areas of China, they are believed to be one of the primary causes.
And the World Health Organization has warned that it can be spread by simply coughing, kissing or making contact with saliva.
But despite generous donations made to the cause, they have so far had no luck.
People all around the world are panicking.
It’s a dire situation.
People have been spotted donning face masks and various other items of clothing and materials in airports in a desperate bid to avoid the virus.
He is the first hospital director to die from contracting the deadly virus.
This is utterly devastating news.
And there is an immense amount of pressure on authorities to find a cure, and fast.
And it’s showing no signs of slowing down.
And the United States is now one of them.
So far, 1,016 people have been confirmed to have been infected with the virus, and thirty-one have reportedly died.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said a few weeks ago that it expects the coronavirus to spread in the United States and has asked Americans to prepare for when the virus hits, not if, CNN reported.
And hospitals across the country are bracing themselves for an influx of infected patients.
As they have become the first U.S. city to declare an official state of emergency… Despite not having any confirmed cases of the virus.
And will allow nurses and doctors to prepare for a possible influx of patients.
And many are experiencing anxiety and worry over the impending doom the virus brings with it.
And it seems that there is a reason for people to really start panicking.
The BBC reported on the 11th of March that the coronavirus has been officially confirmed by the WHO as a pandemic.
And this most certainly doesn’t exclude the rich and famous.
The sixty-three-year-old took to Instagram to reveal the news on Wednesday after the pair have been spending time in Australia for production of Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley movie, in which Hanks is playing Presley’s iconic manager Colonel Tom Parker.
“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” he wrote.
“Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety require. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!”
“We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus),” the statement read.
“We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual. The health and safety of our company members are always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world. The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently receiving treatment.”
More news has just come through that an NBA player has been tested positive for the coronavirus.
The league announced that it would be suspending action in a statement yesterday (11th of March) which read, “The NBA announced that a player on the Utah Jazz has preliminarily tested positive for Covid-19. The test result was reported shortly prior to the tip-off of tonight’s game between the Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena.”
The NBA is taking this matter very seriously…
“At that time, tonight’s game was canceled. The affected player was not in the arena. The NBA is suspending gameplay following the conclusion of tonight’s schedule of games until further notice. The NBA will use this hiatus to determine the next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.”
This shocking news has come just days after the NBA star jokingly touched all the microphones during a press conference, appearing to attempt to make a statement about the “overreaction” to the coronavirus outbreak.
And especially now he has tested positive for coronavirus.
This was when Rudy decided to fondle all the mics, which is clearly something that will now follow the basketball player for a very long time.
And Rudy is more than aware of the situation he has landed himself in.
“I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of concern and support over the last 24 hours. I have gone through so many emotions since learning of my diagnosis…mostly fear, anxiety, and embarrassment,” he started by saying.
“The first and most important thing is I would like to publicly apologize to the people that I may have endangered. At the time, I had no idea I was even infected. I was careless and make no excuse. I hope my story serves as a warning and causes everyone to take this seriously,” Rudy said.
“I will do whatever I can to support using my experience as a way to educate others and prevent the spread of this virus,” he explained.
“I am under great care and will fully recover. Thank you again for all your support. I encourage everyone to take all of the steps to stay safe and healthy. Love.”
The Salt Lake Tribune’s Andy Larsen tweeted thought the joke was “a measure of support for the media.”
Donovan Mitchell revealed via Instagram that he too had tested positive for the virus, writing, “Thanks to everyone who has been reaching out since hearing the news about my positive test. We are all learning more about the seriousness of this situation and hopefully, people can continue to educate themselves and realize that they need to behave responsibly both for their own health and for the well being of those around them.”
Make sure to stay posted for further updates.
