The former president was repeatedly urged to appear on national television to order his supporters to stand down.
He instead issued a series of half-hearted tweets...

Where he reminded the rioters that the police and law enforcement was "on our side," and to "remain peaceful."Trump's behavior resulted in him being banned from all social media platforms...
And, as control was regained in the Capitol and the cleanup began, an impeachment investigation was launched into the former president for the role he played in the riots.
It's been an unbelievable couple of months...
And, as the weeks have trickled by, more and more rioters have been named, shamed, and reprimanded for their actions.
But today, new security footage from inside the Capitol during the attack was presented at Trump's impeachment trial...
And it is nothing short of harrowing.
A senior aide said of the never-before-seen security footage:
House managers will show new Capitol security footage today. "We will be using footage never seen before that shows a view of the Capitol that is quite extraordinary and a view of the attack that has never been public before. You will see for the first time," a senior aide says.

But, upon seeing the footage, people couldn't believe what they were seeing...
Tough day today for everyone there, I watched some footage on the nightly news & I couldn't take much more, sad day.😔

How could anybody see this and not be angry with Trump and his supporters, including Republicans.

Well done, the videos they showed were documented events & display guilt & how horrific Jan. 6th was, DT should be Convicted & held accountable in his role causing the insurrection! 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️

I can't watch this

Unreal. Any person from any party anywhere should recognize the video evidence here as disturbing and damning

It's so extraordinary powerful. Dems presentation is so profound. If this does not move Republican current congress, then they are truly part of this sedition against their own country. How truly disgusting. My God, what has happened to them individually let alone as a party?🥵💩

Senators have also been reacting to the newly surfaced footage.
Senators on both sides of the aisle were visibly affected by what they saw:
"It was really horrifying what happened. You know, I think the House team really put forth a very strong connecting of the dots. I don't see how you can watch any of this and listen to their presentation and not conclude that Trump bears tremendous responsibility for what happened," Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, told reporters.
Democrats spent yesterday's arguments unveiling new footage from the deadly riots...
