A news anchor has been fired after she made a brief appearance in Adam Sandler's new Netflix movie.

Here's what we know so far...

Hubie Halloween landed on Netlfix this month...

And it is the Adam Sandler horror-comedy combo none of us knew we needed.

Now, Sandler's latest venture comes after his hugely successful blockbuster, Uncut Gems.

After the release of the 2019 movie, which strayed massively from the usual slap-stick theme of Sandler's other films, the actor was touted for his first-ever Oscar.

On the topic, Sandler later warned:

"If I don’t get it, I’m going to f*****g come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay. That’s how I get them."

Well, a month after Sandler's comment, the academy went on to snub the crime drama in all categories.

So, as promised, the actor has made his on-screen come-back with an absolute Adam Sandler classic - a frivolous horror-comedy hybrid.

Hubie Halloween is everything we'd ever expect from an Adam Sandler comedy.

The official synopsis reads: "Hubie Dubois (Sandler) thanklessly spends every Halloween making sure the residents of his hometown, Salem, celebrate safely and play by the rules. But this year, an escaped criminal and a mysterious new neighbor have Hubie on high alert. When people start disappearing, it’s up to Hubie to convince the police and townsfolk that the monsters are real, and only he can stop them."

And it features a number of cameos and appearances from a variety of names and Sandler regulars...

Such as Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, and Shaquille O’Neal.

However, there's one name that may be a little less familiar.

7 News' very own Alaina Pinto has a momentary appearance in the movie as DC icon, Harley Quinn while sitting behind a news desk.

Now, Pinto has worked as a news anchor for the station since 2016...

And has become one of the more popular faces amongst the morning newsreaders.

However, her cameo evidently ruffled some feathers amongst the 7 News officials...

Because, as a result of her involvement in the movie, she was fired.

This decision, quite understandably, came as a huge shock to Pinto...

As it did with her co-workers and followers, who were quick to send their messages of condolence and support.

However, some are completely outraged by Pinto's dismissal.

Many people have taken to Twitter to express their anger over the "unfair", "maddening", and "dumb" reason the station gave when firing her.

Upon her dismissal, Pinto tweeted this:

"Hi Friends! I have some news to share… Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News. I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, "Hubie Halloween."

She continued by explaining how, in appearing in the movie, she had "mistakenly violated her contract"...

And expressed her disappointment and sadness over the situation.

She ended on this uplifting note:

"Thanks to all my wonderful 7 News viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station. Reporting the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege. I promise to stay in touch and keep you updated on the next chapter - the future is bright!"
