With previous performers like Michael Jackson in 1993, NSYNC in 2001, and Madonna in 2012, it was only a matter of time before the giants in the hip-hop industry took the stage.

This February Dr. Dre produced a star-studded event, inviting Snoop Dog, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent, sponsored by Pepsi.

The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI halftime show won Best Live Variety Special at the 2022 Emmys against the telecasts of the Oscars, the Grammys, and the Tonys.

It’s not only the first time that the sports performance has been honored in this category, but it’s another step towards the incredibly famous and accomplished performer Eminem snagging the EGOT.

The rapper just needs to win a Tony and he joins the ranks of John Legend, Audrey Hepburn, and Whoopi Goldberg.

This is also the first time in the award’s history that a hip-hop show has taken the top prize, marking an impressive feat for the genre.
